The Case of the Missing Thread
« on: February 01, 2008, 01:20:41 PM »
I was just wondering...

There was a thread in Angst that was pretty active, called "I need help", and between the time I went to bed at midnight and logged in at 8am, it had disappeared.  Is this a weird site thing, or did y'all deliberately remove it?

Database hiccups can and do happen. This might be a case of that.  It's highly unlikely that, as one private messenger has put it, the board was hacked specifically to delete one thread.

I get notified via email everytime and thread is moved or removed, or when someone replies to the thread. The email I got said that Mr Finn removed it. I am sure he had his reasons.

We had people repeatedly trying to invoke Carnivore.

While they were doing it in good fun, mess around with the US intelligence agencies on a board not tied to Jim, shall we?

LOL. Yeah true. But the Intel world would have taken one look at the baord and rolled their eyes. But, "just in case" is always something to follow.

Note: I had intended to post a followup thread, but got seriously distracted at work.

A  truly paranoid person might wonder why our esteemed favorite author would feel the need to avoid the attention of the U.S. intelligence agencies..... ;)

But then, a sensible person wouldn't want to attract their attention either. :P
What if there were no hypothetical situations?
