They are never going to have more sense, and now they have less money.
Hopefully, nobody spent money they needed for other purposes.
Plenty of rich people can afford stupid purchases, and while it may technically leave them with "less money," it's often not an amount they would ever notice or miss; if your cashflow in & out is in the multi-millions per year, a $500 impulse-buy is meaningless.
Other folks have to think
hard about whether they can refill a critical 'scrip on time and still make mortgage, or if they need to skip a dose or three; $500 would destroy their personal finances.
