Warriorborn

So...  What are the Warriorborn exactly?  They seem to have cat like eyes and cats refer to them as "half souls".   They are rather strong and have a high metabolism.   They have normal humans as relatives.

It's not specifically mentioned in the book, but I imagine it's a hold over something that Etherealists did in order to create "super-soldier" types at sometime in the distant past.

Well, it's definitely a genetic trait-- probably recessive, but I suppose it could just be rare enough (and considered undesirable enough in a prospective parent) to keep an otherwise dominant gene in check.  It runs in families, too.

I would say that it was a blending of cats and humans-- maybe to try to create a closer and more visible partnership between the groups?

Jim has acknowledged it's a genetic trait.

I reread a few of the early chapters and there is mention of Warriorborn having the strength of lions.

I'm guessing they look like normal people except for the eyes and the ability to do crazy impressive physical feats.

It was implied that Sark was more spiderlike so it could be half human, half animal cross breeds?

I was wondering about that. His manner was all Spider-like, but he had the same cat eyes, so I think it might just eb personal flavor rather than actual genetic difference.

Perhaps it's the other half of an experiment to give Cats the ability to talk/organize?  Or is it just that humans eventually learned to speak Cat.

I got the impression sarks warriorborn nature was related to the silkweavers whereas normal warriorborn are more catlike.

Sarks impression just may be due to being a puppet of the enemy.

personally I feel the spider-like description is just an account of his stance/ appearance/ movement, not a description of a genetic trait. he is a warrior born, part cat human. my guess he has been w/ Creepy Lady a long time and has been with her the whole time she learned to control the silkweavers. as such he has learned to move like the instinctively. much like how you describe a huge muscular man as bull like, or a graceful/ athletic as cat like, or a small quiet one as mouse like. I do not believe it is a spider genetic trait.

I take it like serack has said, it's genetically human but it manifests either catlike or silkweaver depending on influences.

That isn't what I mean.  The enemy has corrupted Sark and it has twisted warriorborn nature.

I don't think there's anything significantly different to Sark's genes compared to other Warriorborn.  "Spidery" is Jim's usual adjective for a character that's deadly, graceful, and competent but the reader is supposed to be creeped out instead of impressed by the character.  The same thing happens for the Vord queen and for Mavra.
