In particular, there's Kinetomancy.

Aristedes in Ghost Story for example used his knife while he was charged with magic against Daniel. Would that be an Evocation to give himself aspects? It seemed more like a straight up attack using weaponry and magic.

To run through what I would think;
Conviction to summon power,
Discipline to control it,
Weaponry to attack.

So the weapon rating of the knife and the weapon rating of the spell would stack additive, and potentially shifts from Discipline AND Weaponry would apply to the accuracy roll, while letting the opponent potentially defend with more skills than just Athletics that would be the case with just casting a force spell.

Does that seem like a thing that would work for spells? That kind of thing could serve to make the Wardens more dangerous in Melee combat, enable 'flaming swords', and model all sorts of interesting effects if so.

Nope.

Evocations that manifest themselves as sword strikes/knife throws/fists of fury have that manifestation as flavor. If I throw out a +11 Weapon:11 Evocation that allows me to slice you to pieces, I don't get to add the 3 shifts to the weapon rating because I'm using a sword. The sword slices are just flavor.

To me, Aristedes Kinetomancy is just basically Inhuman Speed, high Weapons and Athletics skills and an aspect to invoke. I'm not sure how I'd stat his mind mojo, if I felt I had to...

I figure you can pick different skills for your magic, as long as it doesn't make one skill you "I do everything with"-skill.

Inhuman Speed is best to represent this kind of speed magic. You could add Human Form and have him need an aspect created with his magic to activate it. I think Sancta even has a power like that on his list. ("Sanctaphrax, Sanctaphrax, Sanctaphrax!)

The mind magic could either be incite emotion or a variant of channeling that allows him to do spirit spells.

Generally, just because the label says magic, there doesn't have to be evocation or thaumaturgy inside. Especially if the magic is just the way to get a specific effect (like speed in the example), it's often easier to take the power and have the magic just be flavor.

You could also create enchanted items with a high weapon rating and choose the skill with which you use them (as long as it makes sense). So you could create, for example, a weapon:5 enchanted item that you wield with the weapon skill, if it is a knife. You can add enchantments like "speed buff" maneuvers that you tag when attacking, and it'll be pretty powerful.

Hell, I think I'll need to make a character like that sometime.

It's just Channeling: Spirit with the following 3 rotes;

Celerity: 5 shifts of either movement or block (using high speed as defense)
Lightning Barrage: weapon 5 attack +7 spell, requires tagging an "available weapon" aspect. (+5 attack without tag)
Persuasion: 5-shift mental attack; conditions and takeout are loyalty-related.

I'm assuming this guy has Great (+4) Conviction and Discipline, plus his focus bonuses.

Honestly, though, I'd rather just use Limitation. Less complex.

To be honest, like Belial said, I always preferred to rule the physical part as just fluff for a standard evocation.

It works either that way, or just using Inhuman Speed and Strength with the spellcasting being fluff. Depends on whether you want the character to be able to use it for a long time, or to run out of power/risk taking consequences if it's used too often.

I'd personally use the Inhuman powers version so you don't have to get into the issue of using Evocation to move. But if you just want enhanced attacks and dodging, evocation works great.
