What are your favorite aspects?
« on: April 13, 2013, 10:18:25 AM »
I know there are some great aspects out there and I'd like to here them. They can be your own characters aspects, a player's aspects from your game or just some that you came across that you really like.

Here's a trio that makes me laugh every time I see them on the character sheet:
Knows the Score
Gets the Women
Kills the Bad Guys

(they're from the trailer for Machete)

1) I have Victor Sells' grimoire
2) No White Council entanglements, please
3) Faith regained
4) Fix is my car's mechanic
5) NOT a White Council wizard, thank you very much!
6) Duba's tubas and more!

All come into play and all can be easily self-compelled or invoked.
My Purity score: 37.2.  Sad.

My favorite is "If it's stupid and it works..."

It gets me into and out of some very fun situations. :)

From different characters:

"It's a good thing I'm pretty...."

and

"All out of bubblegum."

I have a fae character in my back pocket who has a fairy quote from A Midsummer Night's Dream for all five of his phase aspects:

"Shrewd And Knavish Sprite", meaning general trickster-fae shenanigans
"What Fools These Mortals Be!", meaning the obvious
"If We Shadows Have Offended...", meaning that he's really not a bad guy deep down, he just kind of goes overboard sometimes.
"Give Me Your Hands, If We Be Friends", meaning that while mortals, as a rule, suck, there are some individual ones that are pretty neat
"I Do Wander Everywhere!", meaning he's been all over, seen everything, but has no real home

It was a pulp WW2 game, but I was rolling in FP's thanks to my aspect of "I Didn't Think That Far Ahead".

In the campaign I play in we have the following...

For some of the characters:

"What could possibly go wrong?" - A changeling who is the Heir to the Prince of Summer
"Hero or?" - A werewolf
"What did I say now?" - A very inexperienced and mentally unstable djinn without a clue about the world.
"Sucker for a lost cause" - a clued in mortal who is a crusader for various things.
"There is more between Heaven and Earth..." - My character, a focused practioner who specializes in divination.

For some locations.

"Oh, there is another floor here" - The Boston Museum
"Guilty until proven innocent" - The FBI

No one has any favorite location aspects? Or campaign aspects? Here are a few of mine....

My group's main game is based in our hometown of Cedar Rapids, IA. Some of you may remember that Cedar Rapids made international news with Biblical-level floods back in 2008. Well, are game takes place shortly after Small Favor, so one of our town's aspects became "Picking Up the Pieces...." And our town, which has problems with the White Court and Marcone's organization behind the scenes has "A clean city hiding dirty secrets."

For a Secret Agent turned Winter Knight (inspired by James Bond) for a one shot adventure we played: "A Heart of Ice Cold Gold"

For my main character, who is young, arrogant, inexperienced but pretty good at what he does: "It's not arrogance if I'm as good as I say I am."

For an Islamic Terrorist turned Knight of the Cross: : "Tell me your sorrows, for I know well of Sin".

A few of them for a Outlaw Biker Vampire Slayer created for our practice game: "Hell, I'm a fan of all 7 (Deadly sins)." "Jolly as Santa, Smells like a Reindeer" and "No place in civilized society."

Here's a simple aspect created for one of our NPCs, who runs a shop full of antiques and curiosities: "I have too much shit."

I'm starting to design a setting for campaign i want to run for some non-indoctrinated TDF friends of mine. I want to set it in 1960s Chicago. Right now I have one of my City Threat ideas as "Politics, Business, and Crime: Three Names With The Same Face." and the working aspect is "The Cold Machine"

Another Idea/Aspect I got cooking is "Your Friendly Neighborhood; Their Bottom Line."

For some locations I'm designing:
"The Wrong Part of Town That Looks Right"
"All That Glitters Isn't Gold"
"Put Your Best Face Forward"
"You Get What You're Looking For"

...Yeah, I'm excited.  ;D Its gonna be my first time running an RPG game, kinda nerve-wracking.
