Ulfgeir - about this book, one of the reviewers on Amazon mentions something awful.
(click to show/hide)
Is that really true or is it one of those "I'll make up stuff so people won't buy this book" things? I can handle anything, but that is one concept I can't handle.  :(

As far as I can remember, nothing of the sort happened in the book.

From what I remember of the book:
(click to show/hide)

I don't remember if the girls exact age was mentioned, but no, she was not a child.  It was one reviewer saying something inflammatory.  Others who gave it negative review didn't mention it, and I didn't remember it as such nor anyone else here.

So the reviewer was just blowing exhaust out of her hoop.

Oh, I am thrilled for the release!!

As for steampunk suggestions.....I am not certain it was TRUE steampunk, but Alan Campbells Deepgate Codex Series is one of my favorites. It is like a Steampunk series had a love child with a Terry Gilliam movie and this series was the product.

.....I think I recall that he was actually working on his own Steampunk series, but I have not seen it yet.

I was wondering about that series as well. I only read Scar Night, but I had a horrible time categorizing its genre. That aside; I can't wait to delve into a new Jim Butcher world!!

HEY!!  I hope we aren't getting the talking cats purely as villains.  My cats are playful, humorous, communicative, relaxing, and when I'm not feeling so good they sit with me quietly and keep me company.  Of course, to any skinwalkers out there who just turned into a rat or a bug, they're villains, all right.

(((Ru)))) It's good to see you!

Shear, I agree about the cats, but as Jim seems to like them (Mister) I'd say they won't be just villains.
Missing you, Md

There are many horrible sights in the multiverse. Somehow, though, to a soul attuned to the subtle rhythms of a library, there are few worse sights than a hole where a book ought to be. Someone has stolen a book (Terry Pratchett)

I have to admit I'm just not into steampunk...but since it's by Jim I'll give it the old college try. The cat does sound awesome.

I imagine he will portray cats as they are: not good nor evil, just assholes  :P

Id be curious to hear how these talking cats compare to Cat Sith, in Jim's mind.  Being that they are both examples of talking cat characters that have been churning around in his head at roughly the same time-frame.
