I dunno, I find them relaxing and a great place to read. Not particularly inspirational. :D

You may be needing a new loofa.   Or better bubbles.

Pfeh. Showers are for getting clean.  Baths are for relaxing locked muscles and figuring out the background of SFnal universes.

If I do that I find myself walking into lamp-posts.

That's more of a purely linguistic inspiration.    2 quarts of Medoc and I'll even get the vowels right on 'Gemütlichkeit'.

I find coffee and endorphins much better for strictly structured or finely detailed work.

Any particular method for getting the endorphins flowing?

Bonus points if it's compatible with keeping a plausible degree of focus on the actual writing.

2 glasses of wine and I find myself speaking and writing flawless French. (FYI - I don't speak or write French. ;) )

Fugue as I might, 'a plausible degree of focus on the actual writing' is still under development.     I do come close during post-workout chairbound stretchys.

I have a cousin who makes brandy almost that strong.

I never drink anything but wine. But I'd be willing to try that brandy if it can teach me German. ;D
