Ok, if nothing else, the unlock should make it easier to pull the code from the old post.

If you didn't notice from my reply containing a reposting from my 2011 topic, this happens to be a subject I find important :)

Haven't forgotten,  plan on redoing this even better than before.

I think I'll be archiving this topic for it's discussion of the morality of Harry killing non human sapients.

Lots and lots of really well thought out and backed up discussion about the issue.

I really enjoyed the discussions in this topic
http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,38493.45.html

But I'd like some 2nds before I transfer it to the DFRC since it's my own and it wasn't just a reference

Edit:  Hmmm, it does end up becoming a Serack typical list, this time about different "Dimensions" or "Planes" that might be involved with the NN.

Truthfully, I'm on the fence about this one.  Certainly it has some interesting theorizing about the topology of the NN, but I don't get a strong enough feeling that this really is something people will want to go back to.

My own suggestion here would be to re-format it (or re-open the discussion) once Skin Games comes out -- (note that the thread only expires in July, way after the book will be out).  I have a suspicion that SK may reveal certain insights into NN travel that might be useful to the discussion.

...Then again, by then "some" of us might be privileged with certain tidbits from the next book (Mirror Mirror if I'm not mistaken), which might really prevent certain individuals from presenting their theories.

hmmm, I do have some thoughts I came up with that are very pertiant to that discussion that aren't based off of SG... Maybe I will do some reformatting...  I think there's another post/topic or 2 that I might want to tie in as well, and I haven't found all of them yet.

Oh, I still would like this fleshed out.  I think the Quacker needs to be consulted.

Oh, I still would like this fleshed out.  I think the Quacker needs to be consulted.

IIRC, the key idea here was that the Black Court can increase it's numbers so quickly that there is no way it could have been in a stable state with the rest of the DV powers for very long.

Thus the hypothesis is that the inception of the Black Court came about as a by-product (or accident) of some necromancers not too long ago.  It grew by leaps and bounds until they became the most powerful group within a century or three and were thus subsequently taken down by a coalition of powers headed by the White Court's publication of Stoker.  IMHO, tying this into the "Black Death" is just the dressing on top.

The main counter to this seems to be the apparent age of Mavra.  I believe she's stated to be much older than what this theory would require.

I'm considering splicing http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,40471.30.html

to one of these two topics.

http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,35014.0.html

http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,35568.0.html

(when the time comes)

If and when this is done, I'd include the OP from the following thread:

http://www.jimbutcheronline.com/bb/index.php/topic,40438.0.html (Feb 2014)

Gard specifically mentioning Hastings is (IMHO) a clue.

This link in the OP (March 2014) is really the critical part that I think should be documented somewhere.  I dont know who made the Map, but it's is certainly an impressive bit of work, and useful for anyone interested in the geography of the stories.

However a ways down Griffyn612 posted several pictures from what sounds like a Dresden Tour of Chicago that are also pretty cool, including pics of St Mary's, both Graceland statues, Sue, etc.

Too cool.  I'll let it sit there for at least a month.  I'm glad it showed up in the Books section.  Griff doesn't darken the Spoilers section while sample chapters are floating about.

This post by Fangs blew me out of the water about in proportion to the Lacuna = the Tooth Faery post.  So I looked at Fangz's back posts and found that he propposed the same theory with more backing back in October, so I'm archiving it since I'm for sure indexing it in Elegast's theory index.

I wish it got more discussion

I'd like to archive this reference of mine about the nature of outsiders, including theories on why they are attacking us.

The latest discussion on the nature of Mother Winter really had some awesome thoughts.  I'm not sure if I'll archive it, but I certainly want to be able to find it easy at least until the release of SG and then some new topic will probably supplant it and I will be sure to try to include the most pertinant thoughts (and their originators) there.  In the mean time a link here will help me use it as a reference.
