Need help creating a new aspect and such
« on: February 29, 2012, 02:28:57 AM »
I generally have no trouble with aspects, but every name I come up with sounds cheesy to me and I find them to be too broad.

What I'm looking for: An aspect that would fit a rather odd situtation.
The situation is:            A true believer has been taught to wolf change by an Alpha. It made sense for the story believe it or not.
I need something to represent the dichotomy of being part wolf (and all the compels that can go with animal instincts) and a True Believer ( faithful, usually honorable, strong sense of duty and loyalty).   I'm trying to create a double edged aspect one that can be positive or negative.

Any help or opinions would be welcome.

Here are a few possibilities:

Blessed Wolf of St Maedoc
St Columban's Wolf
Wolf Knight of the Word
Hospitaller Wolf
Sister Austreberthe's Wolf
Brother Wolf
Repentant Wolf of Gubbio
Crusading Wolf

Could go on...did you have any other specifics on what you want the aspect to represent?

Wolves are often territorial, protective of their "pack" overly so.  Werewolves are often depicted as having a worse temper than prior to their affliction.  Some myths make them out to be lustier creatures.

My character used to be fairly nerdy, still is pretty nerdy.  He has an irish temper, but he tries to be kind to most people.  He believes in second chances for almost everyone.  He fought in a war so duty is important to him.  He views himself as a modern day crusdaer or templar.

Trying to go for a aspect that shows the contradiction of being wolf-like yet still a faithul soul.

I was thinking of "faithful yet feral" or something very easily seen as a dual nature.

So he's a follower of the Good Shepherd and a werewolf, right?

How about A Sheep in Wolf's Clothing:)

Wouldn't Shepard in Wolves Clothing be better?

Adding to the list:

Shepherd in Wolf's Clothing is pretty good. Here's a couple more suggestions

Spurning the Call of the Wild
Called to God or Call of the Wild
The pack, or the flock
"of Civilisation or Savagery"
"...amongst wolves"
"My nature...red in tooth and claw?"
The sacrament of Body and Blood
The Gleipnir leash is a thin as silk
- Referencing the shackles that bound the Fenrir wolf in Norse Myth
"Leashing my inner monster"
Soul of a Man or Spirit of the Beast
Chains of Faith holding back the beast
"No beast is more savage than man, when possessed with power answerable only to his rage"

If you want something less wolf specific, but still applicable to the situation then how about something like: A long way to fall, but an easy way to get there, or plagued by my inner demon

The Lord, the Wretch and the Werewolf

I was thinking about "Shepherd in Wolf's Clothing" as well, but the other way around would fit better in my opinion:

I'd original thought that, but I noticed that the character is a "True Believer (faithful, usually honorable, strong sense of duty and loyalty)" but not necessarily a priest/preacher/pastor/etc.  If the character is a member of a clergy, then Shepherd works better.

But, even if (s)he doesn't lead a congregation, as a member of the faithful who steps into danger to do what's right, (s)he is leading by example.  I think Shepherd is quite fitting.

I'm really torn by all the great ideas.  Very glad I polled the community for this. Now its just a matter of talking to my GM and figuring what he thinks of the list I chose which works best for us as a whole.

Still open to ideas the next game won't be for a week to week and a half.

Another variation on the theme might be The Good Shepherd's (Were)Wolf.

Ah, got another quick idea:
