Looking For Playtesters
« on: November 23, 2011, 07:23:16 PM »
As you have undoubtedly noticed, there's rather a lot of homebrew content floating around this board. Much of it made by me.

Unfortunately, most of this content is totally untested. This means that nobody knows whether or not it is balanced.

This is a problem that you can fix.

So I'm looking for people interested in using homebrew content in their own games.

If you're one of those people, please post here.

The campaign I'm in currently is using some home brew rules for Resources, Companions, Minions and Workspaces.  Once the write up for them is done and made public, I'll post a link to them.

Work is also underway to create and stat out rules for organizations.

Otherwise, what sort of rules were you looking to have tested?
Kill the Child, Doom the World...  Or is it, Kill the Child, Save the World?

Homebrew stuff I want tested:

-A bunch of custom powers.

-A few rewrites of canon powers.

-A few custom stunts.

-Expanded rules for summoning, vehicles, and thaumaturgy.

-Various interpretations of various powers.

Games I run usually do not have any custom powers. Custom powers in my games are simply reskins of canon powers. But I do not mind testing out the different interpretations of canon powers.

There are four things I had in mind for that.

1. Mental attacks with Evocation.

2. Allowing Might to complement normal combat rolls, thereby making Strength stronger.

3. Applying the +2 Incite Emotion bonus to attacks.

4. Making Evocation attacks against skills other than Athletics.

Those 4 things are questionably-balanced interpretations of canon powers. I'd be interested to know if there are any real consequences for allowing them.

So if you happen to try them out, I'd like to hear about it.

3. Applying the +2 Incite Emotion bonus to attacks.

Are you refering to Incite Emotion in combination with Emotional Vampire? Or are you also applying the bonus to the Potent/Lasting Emotion?

I will be running an in-person game over winter break (mid-December to mid-January), I'd consider trying out some during that time.

@toturi:

Not sure exactly what you're asking. Here's what I mean:

Incite Emotion gives a +2 bonus to maneuvers and blocks. With an upgrade, it can be used to make attacks. Do those attacks get a +2 bonus?

In other words, does Great Intimidation and Incite Fear with all upgrades give me Great attacks at weapon 4 or Fantastic attacks at weapon 4?

I would appreciate knowing wether it's balanced to answer "yes" and "the latter" to the above questions.

@Katarn:

Glad to hear it.

The Custom Powers Master List ought to be a bit more usable by then, and just about everything on it will need testing. By PCs if possible, by NPCs if not.

There will also be a few stunts that need a trying-out. I'll write out a list here before your game begins.

Honestly, the best I could ask for is that you just let your players take powers and stunts from the list threads.
