I'm also attempting NaNoWriMo under my normal handle, Lanodantheon. Word count needs serious work this weekend, but I write in bursts of insanity. Seriously, when I can manage to concentrate I am a machine that forgets to eat...

My entry for this year is a Genre Bender simply called, The Wizard With No Name.

My name is Lanodantheon Thul, Conjure that by your own risk....But first, you have be able to spell it...

I've just disturbed myself by writing a scene that I don't want to google because I know Rule 34 is in effect. *shuddershuddershudder*

All because I had to make the character earn his nickname.

A minor character is named Randy Andy who owns a supernatural type strip club. He was uh..."auditioning" a female lycan (wolfman style not traditional werewolf) and a female vampire. Throw in some ropes and a fake ahem and a gag and you begin to get the picture.

I felt the need to shower after I wrote that. And vomit. And brush my teeth.

:D  Besides, did the scene move the story further?  Or was it just filler cause it's NaNo?

Oh no, it was necessary to get the information to acquire the last member of the crew. And I had to justify giving him the nickname Randy Andy.

I'll give you the first, but the second is a bit debatable.

Well it's not as important for this novel as it will be for the rest of the series, in which they will eventually bring down the slavery ring responsible for supplying him with "talent"

Besides, I have the whole of SF's Tenderloin, I may as well make the location extra tenderloiny

But....But how's that explain the nickname?  Randy doesn't mean kinky-weirdass-fetishist.

It's the nickname of an English character who's euphemizing for just that. Mostly it boils down to a promise I made at the time for comedy that I then had to fulfill on camera.

I suppose it might make sense in context.
