I kept laughing at these. I'm sure the exxy could tell you how much they apply to me. But this one, #16:

Writers communicate in a bunch of different ways. But mostly writing. Hope you don’t like talking on the phone — that shit is rough.

That one's too, too true. I despise talking on the phone.  It's possible to get me to chat on the phone... if you don't call more often than once a week.  Most of your calls will go to voicemail, and if the message doesn't start with "I think I'm bleeding to death", I will probably not return it.  I do not chat on the phone. I don't like chit-chat. If we do chit-chat, count on me spending at least half the conversation relating everything back to the stuff I write.

snorting my soft drink out the nose.  Now you know why I avoid live voice online writer's groups....   *sigh*  Also, the voice rarely matches what I decided how it should sound...the two rarely, never line up...

I don't mind talking on the phone, if it's friends or family, and they've called me.  But if I have to do the calling? Forget it.  Unless it's an automated thing, like calling Walgreens to refill my prescription.

I almost never even bother to listen to the voicemail.  I figure 1) if it's serious, they'll call back and 2) here's how 99.9% of voicemail messages go:

"Heyyyyyy, it's meeeeeee.  I'm just calling to say hiiiiiiii but I guess you're not arouuuuund.  I'll call you laterrrrrrrr.  Byeeeeeeee!"

They drive me insane.  Don't leave me a message saying you called, I have a "missed calls" thingie on my cell, I KNOW you called.  Leave a message if you have something to say, like, "Don't call me back, I just had a minute" or "I'm going out of town so I'll call when I get back" or something.  And WHY oh why oh WNY does everyone draw out every word in voicemail?  Everyone devolves into a 15-year-old girl when they leave voicemail, even the guys.

I hate the phone.

Heh. Guess this is one point where we aren't in sync. On the off chance you haven't noticed, I love to talk and will take just about every opportunity to do so. :D

You definitely don't have to be a writer to hate the pohne, either.
My stats-major friend really won't do phone calls.  She has me or her boyfriend call automated systems like CVS for her.  But she also has had hearing problems from a very young age which skews her already naturally present bias against phones.

I am really, really bad at answering my phone. Sometimes I lose my phone on purpose, just so I won't have to answer it. *sigh*

I think that may be too weak a statement.  Talking, at all, is tough. (Fortunately the writer to whom I am married is enough with me on this that we will stop any in-person conversation that gets tough at about the same time to go to each our separate comoputers and take the interaction to email.)
