Wood Element based shield
« on: August 13, 2010, 08:37:01 PM »
So everyone has their entropy shields, their force shields, their magnetic shields and what not. But what about those shields for out of the way elements like wood or even say mud (I've seen one character on the forums that uses mud based magic, pretty neat). Thoughts anyone?

You could heal so fast against things blocked by the shield.

Or... Roots surge up from the ground and guard you?  Branches bend to jostle those attacking you?

Edit: Revenge of the Crab Grass!  For countless centuries, humans have been content that crab grass cross slowly and then never very tall.  But in truth it was all a ruse so that one day it could rise up in the blind of an eye to engulf those that would enslave their chloro-cousins for green house lawns!

If you have to ask, it probably breaks a Law of Magic.  You're just trying to get the Doom of Damocles.

I used to play Earthdawn and it had items made of a substance they called fernweave. It was basically a light, tough living plant magically formed into armor or a shield. In the Dresden Files setting it would probably work as a conjured wooden shield to hide behind or block with and vanish into goo when you're done with it.

Maybe try here for some less literal ideas:
