Brand new to the Fate system, need help with City Creation
« on: June 25, 2010, 10:17:29 PM »
The short and sweet is that I'm GMing this game and am completely new to the Fate system and practically new to GMing. I've done som DnD DMing in the past, but never really set up my own campaign. We have a ground of five players (Not including me), only one of which has started reading the DF books and another which has seen the TV show. We just finished up City Creation last night and I wanted to get a few opinions on what we have. I'm hoping to have the short-comings pointed out, what needs to be changed, where we blatantly screwed up, etc.

Shouldn't the Faces include the ones behind the strings? The mob or whoever?

Really? -_- Maury Arty? Lols. Good thing I've learned not to be drinking when I read these... So he's kind of a Wizard supremacist? This kinda hints towards a harry potter pureblood kind of thing, but works just fine...

A supernatural black market under a bridge... -_- Hellboy fans are ya? Lol

Not using Mac Nally's as a template for this are ya?

From what I can see, this works pretty well. You've got some good base for storyline here. Also, some good humor as well  ;)
A man once told me death smiles at us all. All a man can do is smile back.

Do you think a man can change his destiny?
I think a man does what he can, until his destiny is revealed to him.

May the best day of your past, be the worst day of your future.

Oh, yeah... I actually haven't figured out who's pulling the strings yet, though I was thinking either the White Court or the Black Court...

The player who came up with that is an English major, though everyone else did seem to like it. I think he could be used well as setting up an elitist group of college practitioners.

Yeah, the last campaign I ran was using the BESM system in which all the players were members of the B.P.R.D.

I'm sorry, what is that?  :P

Thanks, good to see I was able to get everyone to understand the system enough and we figured it out.

Also, I'll probably be making up the Space Needle as a location, I'm thinking of the Aspect being "Font Of Power".

Oh hush up I was tired...  ;D

I had forgotten about that building... Yeah it's possible. Could be used as a plotline of someone using it to do something dastardly...

It's funny, there's two reasons my group picked Seattle for our campaign.
1) There's a bridge that actually has a sculpture of a troll grabbing a VW Beetle.
2) The idea of an epic battle on top of the Space Needle made everyone giddy.
