Haunted Places in San Francisco:
San Francisco Arts Institute ~ Russian Hill ~Supposedly built on a cemetery in the early 1900 after an earthquake, it is haunted by a few restless spirits.
Ocean Beach Sutro Bath - The sutro baths have quite a history behind them, as well as the tunnel that lies directly to the right of the old sunken building. It has been said that many people have been sacrificed at the end of this tunnel, and if you go at night fall and light a candle at the end of the tunnel someone will come and pick it up and throw it into the water that rushes up just beyond the rocks.
Abandoned Army Hospital building on the Presidio: haunted by ghosts of dead soldiers. Rumors are even the SFPD won't go in here. Also: Presidio Offers' Club supposedly houses uniformed ghosts.
Neptune Society Columbarium/Odd Fellows Cemetery ~ this place looks SWEET!
Queen Anne Hotel ~ Formerly Miss Mary Lake's School for Girls. Supposedly haunted by the comforting female presence of the ghost of Miss Mary Lake.
The Mansions Hotel ~ built in 1887 ~ haunted by the ghost of Claudia Chambers, niece of silver tycoon Richard Chambers and died under mysterious circumstances reported as "farm implement accident."
Park at Bush & Octavia ~ haunted by the ghost of Mary Ellen Pleasant, Civil Rights Activist and Voodoo Priestess.
Ghost Ship of San Francisco ~ an 1886 windjammer schooner ghost ship that occasionally sails the Bay. Spotted frequently, but most famously by the crew of the destroyer U.S.S. Kennison on the morning of Sept. 15, 1942.
Golden Gate Park's Stow Lake ~ The Woman of Stow Lake haunts the lake at the Japanese Tea Garden
Haskell House on Fort Mason ~ haunted by US Senator David Broderick who died after a duel.
Angel Island ~ site for Miwok Native Americans, first landing site for the Spanish, first European entry into SF Bay. Was a Camp during the Civil War, infantry garrison during the US campaign against the Native Americans, troops embarking and returning from WWI & II, became a Japanese and German POW interment camp, and finally a missle base. Now CA state park. Wow, lot of history there.
Someone has to do the Cameron House/Occidental Board Mission House listed above. LOL. Even if it's me. Besides the San Francisco Art Institute, there are probably more rumors about it being haunted than anywhere else in SF.
