Custom Fate Tokens
« on: April 22, 2010, 04:53:06 PM »
I was playing around with my character sheet last night when I noticed that the "Current Fate Points" circular section on the Character Sheet fits a Poker Chip almost perfectly, so it got me thinking. Has there been any thought to producing a custom DFRPG token similiar to the bennies that Pinnacle Entertainment does for its Deadlands and Savage Worlds games. There are a couple companies out there that produce high quality fully customizable chips for not too much. For instance: BR Pro Poker does some outstanding chips. I love their zombie line. :)

I'm not sure if we'd sell enough to make a quantity purchase worthwhile. I'll see what I can figure out though.

I have the custom ones John Wick did for Houses of the Blooded.  Why don't you set it up as a fundable project.  I know I'd buy them and if they only have the fancy pentagram who knows who else might be interested Dresden or not...

How much would you pay for a stack of ten? A stack of thirty?

I don't remember what I paid for John's but I remember them being pricey.  He did a limited run and doesn't intend on doing it again.  Got the feeling he wanted some and did it to find a way to make them pay for themselves...  :D

I'd say a fair price for 10 would be around $15-20, since custom chips range from about a $1.00/chip for small runs to nearly nothing for HUGE runs. Of course, this is all dependent upon what type of chip (Clay vs. ceramic, weight, etc.)
I think using a ten chip stack would probably be the best bet for orders. Anyone wanting more can order multiple stacks. I'd say this is pretty doable.

Another idea, if there was enough interest, you could use extras and place one in each of the preorders of the game as a surprise "Thank You" which could generate interest in them as well. This might not be feasible, but its fun to imagine... :)

They cost $10 for a roll of 15 chips.  I thought it was worth it but I'd like slightly lighter chips (the clay ones get heavy hauling around a bunch to demos).

I'd buy them.  I'd prob only use them at home though.  Carrying HotB chips got a little heavy moving around at Cons.

Is there a way to POD this?  Do the t-shirt, coffee mug, etc companies sell anything like it?

Just FYI this was the first link when I looked this up. http://www.worldpokersupplies.com/custom_poker_chips.htm Custom chips were as low as $125 for a set of 500 (and that came with an aluminum case). If you did this pre-order only you could do a single print run and maybe talk them down a bit.  You'd prob only want one case at most to show these off for Con sales (if at all).  At a quarter a piece even with a reasonable shipping and handling mark up it'd look like these could recoup.

Now i just have the image of Fred beaning his players with fate chips during compels...

And yes i would spend $10-15 for a stack of dresden chips.

Heck, I'd buy them just so I could fling them at my players during compels.  ;)
