Take your loins and gird them. Simple.

But, but, why would one want to put a belt or something on their loins?   :P

I have four of my own said guardbeasts.  One of which is ginormous (Maine Coon), and another which is schizo.  I think I might be able to handle it.  :D

You haven't encountered these. One is a science-fiction beast who, when startled, blows out a defensive cloud of fur. You'll be choking and on the floor within three seconds.

NYCC is ready for Jim!

... or so they believe...

I would believe they're ready if they had put together about EIGHT of those itsy-bitsy panel rooms and combined them into one big 'un for the Friday night panel.

What about room for Brandon Sanderson's fans?

Well, considering a lot of us Jim-fans are also Brandon Sanderson fans...  But yeah.  The space is going to be cramped.  All I know is I'm not holding Shecky on my lap.  I don't need face-full of dwarf.  :D

Which is part of why I observed they've woefully underplanned. I like me some Sanderson, too.

That wouldn't turn out well for anyone within range of hearing or sight.

Missing you, Md

There are many horrible sights in the multiverse. Somehow, though, to a soul attuned to the subtle rhythms of a library, there are few worse sights than a hole where a book ought to be. Someone has stolen a book (Terry Pratchett)

Don't know if you are joking or not but to gird your loins is to tie up/secure your loose garment (like a long tunic's lower ends) and secure the loose ends around your legs and or waist to allow greater freedom of movement in preparation for something strenuous like hard work or battle.

It also referred to snugging up securing certain swingly bits that would react with sensitivity to the application of swords, spears, and the like.  Making them a more compact target increases the likelyhood of the owner retaining his aquaintence with them.

Yup. To quote Robert Heinlein, "It keeps 'em from swingin' in the breeze and bangin' your knees."

Wow, they should talk to someone at DragonCon about exactly how many rabid Jim Butcher fans are out there! Room for 100 people?!? They have got to be kidding. 500-1000 would be more like it, I would imagine.

Very true. Paynesgrey. You could say it is dress for battle.

Well, D*C is much larger than NYCC, so you'd expect the crowd to be proportionally sized. But that room just ain't enough in either case.
