Would Nicholas Sparks be a name that a trendy happening with-it person should recognise, then ?

I'd say so. Eldest is a big fan of his. And she adores the movie and the book of "The Notebook".

Well, I didn't put it out there, but it seems pretty simple.  Something JB might find handy.  Gastro  (of the stomach) turgy (study of)  as in Taulmaturgy (sp).... So I take this to be the study of using gastric smells to follow someone...   LOL

So basically the study of stomaches? or if you're using gastric smells... farting? ;P

Well, I suppose that since my stepson moved out somebody else had to take up the responsibility of making it clear to me that I am a clueless has-been.

most definitely!  who wants to study the stomach.  Although hunters and fisherpeople slit the guts to see what fish are biting at etc.  And I never understood that amazing research tool---the cow with a window.  Yes, necessary, but I really didn't need to know that!

I'm keeping up with the word counts but I don't know if my character is interesting enough. So far he's had a fairly prophetic dream and gone to work...  ::)

Improbabalise, (spelling it from memory, - to render improbable)

Day two and I'm still ahead of the goal...

I think the best thing that's keeping me going is that I keep telling myself it doesn't have to be good and nobody's going to read it anyway! LOL

Day two and I'm still ahead of the goal...

I think the best thing that's keeping me going is that I keep telling myself it doesn't have to be good and nobody's going to read it anyway! LOL

Oh hellz yeah. ;D  My first pages are especially painful.  I blather, I ramble, I bumble around the beginning of my story and bounce off the walls a few times before I finally manage to get going.  Normally, I'd still be re-re-re-writing the beginning.  This time, I just left it back there and kept going.  It was a revelation to me!  I didn't know you could do that. I thought, y'know, horrible things would happen.

Of course, I also usually send it out to people to read and this time I'm laughing out loud when people ask if they can read it.  "No," I say.  "I like you, therefore you cannot read it."

It's freeing.
