Jim's Event Calendar
« on: December 20, 2006, 02:57:07 PM »
Is there another place on J-B.com to see the upcoming Jim events?  I check the one in the sidebar about every day.  A week or so ago, I was informed through another board here that there was a signing in Independence, MO on 12/9.  I didn't see anything about that on his calendar.

I've been waiting for a local signing, and was pretty steamed that I missed that one.  I was just wondering if there was a reason it wasn't on his current calendar, or if there was a more complete one somewhere else that I'm missing.

If the answer to both those questions is "No" then I think it would be cool if steps were taken to make a more consice calendar.  *crosses fingers and waits patiently

I'm a videographer by trade.  Check out my work if you're a writer that needs to procrastinate.  Not as good as Rhett and Link, but I do what I can.

Unfortunately, the calendar stuff's been in transition.  Shannon's more on top of what events are, but she doesn't have the ability to edit the contents of that sidebar due to... um, oogy technical issues.

Currently under consideration is replacing that sidebar with a simple link to a bulletin board on these forums, which Shannon could just post things to.  It'd have the disadvantage that the threads wouldn't be sorted by the date of the event, but I think the convenience factor may overcome that.

Google Calendar maybe a consideration for you.

I've messed with it before, but I'm not sucked in.  I'd prefer to make sure of tools we already have.

SMF has a calendar option under the admin settings.  You could enable that calendar, only allow mods to make changes, and link it to the main page.

What about just doing a permanent sticky post here that gets updated once a month?

Very good. No release information on Captain's Fury yet?

I'm expecting it'll be "same time next year", but I don't have an *official* confirmation of that yet.
