Magical Theory
« on: October 28, 2020, 11:19:54 AM »
I remember some old WoJ where he said his magic was based off a mixture of other practices - i've seen pagan mostly
This post is basically to collect all the magical theory given in canon in one place, so people can theorize better regarding magic
So please reply with whatever you know about the Dresdenverse magical workings

All of the things I can think of are flavored with my own theory though... I was gonna start putting that together sometime... Hopefully.. for your perusal.

I'd say that classical occult/magical theories usually were way more ritualistic than TDF magic - which is more like sort of psionic/energy manipulation when ritual serve only to sort of help concentration so you won't nuke own brain by using energies of creation.
That is sort of closer to fake ritualism of Mage the Ascencion - when it's just veil for brain (although in TDF it's much more objective - necessary tools to do magic safely and precisely), or maybe using Winds of Magic in Warhammer, than with proper occultism.
