Consequences per Exchange
« on: July 09, 2013, 11:06:22 PM »
So... I've seen other versions of FATE that make a limitation that you can only take a single Consequence in a single Exchange. (Age of Arthur comes immediately to mind, but I seem to recall seeing others).

If this is specified in Dresden I may have missed it... is there such a limitation? Also, if there's not, how does your table handle it?

No, DFRPG explicitly allows multiple consequences to be taken - even for a single attack.  See YS204:  "Multiple consequences can be “stacked” at a time, combining their rating for the purposes of absorbing an attack."

Note that Dresden Files plays with pretty high Weapon Ratings, so the ability to take multiple consequences in an exchange is somewhat needed, as Weapon:6 or more is very common among Submerged or higher PCs.

This.  It gets a little absurd pretty quickly.

It also makes sense narratively for DF as opposed to a middle age style game where combats are typically more drawn out and long term.DF combats tend to be pretty short, quick and brutal.

Thanks all, I was fairly sure our group was playing it the way it was intended, but I had a doubt. ;)
