Heheh.  In that same vein, Mortal Kombat called it Outworld.

That would work really well if you said it in German -- "Ausland". It seems to call back to the word "auslander", which means "foreigner" (literally, "outlander").

Looking at another series (the Night Watch one) there's Twilight or Gloom - from the Russian word sumrak.

Well... "Ausland" simply means anything that isn't your own country. It's kind of like the english "abroad". It has absolutely no mystic touch to it. For Germans at least... maybe it has a mystic sound for non native speakers, I wouldn't know.
But it's always a simple way to make something commonplace sound better, using a different language... We Germans do it all the time by using english words, and it can be really ridiculous from time to time. *g*
