Getting prepared
« on: March 19, 2008, 08:08:57 PM »
All right, so I know that I've got some time before the Dresden comes out, but I need to start getting used to the FATE system. As I recall, Dresden is built on the Spirit of the Century rules correct? So, I need to get that book, what else do I need to get started?

Fudge dice, maybe.  But that's it.

And I should note that the DFRPG version of the Fate rules (which are at the core of SOTC) is heavily modified from SOTC.  You'll find similar principles, but some strongly different behavior in DFRPG.

Cool, but since I the only system I have any real experience with, other than on the PC, is WoD. And this gives me something to occupy my time with while waiting. :)

And the basic philosophy behind running each of the two games is similar. Once you master SotC, the transition to DFRPG should be a lot easier than starting from scratch with DF.
