The name should draw fans of his dad, hopefully his skills and talent will establish his own fan base like the King’s and  Amiss’ families. Nepotism exists, but so does artistic talent as a genetic propensity. No one fortunately has a genetic propensity to be a politician, so that is pure nepotism, and must be stamped out.

If Junior can “Joe Hill” it, as Senior has established a Multiverse,  that leads to the possibility of a crossover between their worlds, theoretically “Mr Sunshine” could be a common character. However I would only expect that after Junior has established his own voice.

I will buy and try, and keep an open mind.

But..... what if it is better than Storm Front?

Then Jim should feel great pride as a parent, because that is what it is all about! ;)

But......what happens when Jim is introduced to a third party not as Jim Butcher, famous author, but as James Butcher Senior, father of famous author James Butcher.

Interesting ... I'm not sure if that's the one Jim Sr mentioned his son working on where the magic system causes slow sanity corruption and the magical enforcers are partnered with a mundane who's supposed to put them down when they eventually go dark, or it's something else.

Well, Jim's Cinder Spires have the etherealists go mad already.... let us wish them the success of Dumas pere et fils.

Same with the practitioners in Charlie Stross Laundryverse and those in Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London Books, strokes and brain haemorrhages. It’s becoming a common literary trope, even in the Dresdenverse magic direct undertaken by the mind is dangerous, that’s why words are used in enacting spells, they provide a framework for the spell outside of the head. Basically with great power comes great mental illness.

Not that that should worry Harry, he has had so many concussions he has to worry more about what going on outside his head that inside it. He really needs something like a spell augmented leather flying helmet he can put on in Battle. Just think how that will annoy the cover artist.
