Will Harry be the big bad in Mirror Mirror?
« on: August 01, 2018, 08:10:29 PM »
Alright Jim has said that he gives Harry just enough power to survive against the powerful enemies that he faces who are actually quite a bit bigger than he is in the power department...  Think Harry vs Before who's on par with an Arc Angel.  He doesn't want an all powerful Dresden, he wants a barely getting out alive Dresden.  So what about in Mirror Mirror?  Will Harry be barely surviving the alternate universe (That Dresden's enemies), or will the alternate Harry actually be way bigger than Harry Prime?  Meaning will we see a turbo charged Dresden that's basically on par with anyone from the Senior Council or maybe even beyond them.
Stole this from Reginald because it was so well put, and is true for me as well.

"I love this place. It was a beacon in the dark and I couldn't have made it through some of the most maddening years of my life without some great people here."  Thank you Griff and others who took up the torch.

Well, it seems the Council is going all out to take him down and alt-Harry is going all out to hit and run; so, I would put him on par with any member of SC. But, probably less than Kemmler.

I think the transition between books 16 and 17 will be similar to the transition between books 12 and 13.

Perhaps but that is years away...

No reason to try to stop those who do want to participate in this conversation, if you don't want to, you don't have to remind us with your every posting in here :(
Anyways though OP, Jim has said He who summons Harry gets more than he bargains for(and I can't verify but I though the same was said specifically of MM Harry summoning Harry later on when he told us about that bit) and I imagine the deal here is not so much of MM Harry being the biggest threat, the main antagonist perhaps sure, But I'd bet all the WC and other folks out to hunt Harry are going to be the main foil.
On a side note, Mine own theory on Marcone being a Arthurian remix and the woj MM Marcone is the one to look at got me thinking... If Amoriachus was likely destroyed as a result of Harry's alternative choice,(and I'd believe it was) How might the new manifestation actually be? Another sword? A nebulous energy about the man? A... Death Cloak!?

From what we've seen, Kemmler's flunkies are rather intrigued with Dresden... and our Dresden is the Dresden who has refused power, for the most part.  In an infinite universe of parallels, there must be a Dresden who took power... and survived.  And took more...  With his raw magical strength and his apparent extreme aptitude for necromancy, I'd really think Dresden, maybe not at 40 years, but further down the line, could eclipse Kemmler.  There is a reason the Senior Council and others worry about him.

I think the big question isn't how bad etc Harry is or gets, but will he be aware that he is?   If he isn't how does he discover that he is?  Or in the biggest twist in history, he remains the villain for the rest of the series....

In the original Star Trek story, yes, there were nasty mirrors for Kirk and Company, but the Kirk and Company we know and love were wandering around in the parallel  Enterprise, shocked but aware and trying to fix things and get back to their own universe..   Meanwhile Spock and Company also became aware rather quickly that the Kirk and Company that showed up were not the good guys we know and love, locked them up and began to figure out a way to send them back and get their old Captain and Company back...

Sooooo.....  Based on that, since the story is told in first person, we won't suddenly have Harry run amuck as the new Kemmler...   He won't think he is doing anything wrong, and there won't be anyone to tell him that this isn't him... Because in their world, big bad Harry is normal!  I think it will go down like the original Trek,  Harry shows up in the mirror world and discovers big bad Harry and either tries to change him or kill him... Or he finds someone like Spock with integrity  in both worlds to kill him, most likely this will be Murphy, Michael, or Eb...

So one can speculate, but as I said, years off, find it hard to get excited, that is an opinion and not stopping anyone else who wants to speculate...

Having watched Mirror, Mirror on first broadcast I will commit heresy and suggest that JB might have picked a better episode to pay homage to. If it's a direct take off, who plays the Spock role?  Spock with a goatee was the best thing in it.

MM Harry looks a lot more like ID Harry, goatee and all.

I wonder if we will get Murphy with an eyepatch in alt-world.

If JB stays with the story line than the two Harry's will never meet.  Only one Harry at a time.   I wouldn't be surprised if in MM universe that Harry took up the coin.  Harry's purpose in Mirror Mirror could be to put the artifacts that Harry had at the moment of divergence into hands that can use them in the Mirror Mirror universe. Shiro's sword and the Map of the ways to name two possibilities.  The map of the ways could take the place of the magic murder machine.  It's one of the more powerful tools Harry has.  On another note, Mab would be the only one who would know the real Harry in both universes.  By the mantle.  Does that sound right?
