Ideas for a Combo Stunt
« on: May 18, 2011, 04:37:16 PM »
In one of the campaigns I am in me (melee tank) and a warden (with a real fondness for sword fighting) allways seem to be attacking on the same iniative with melee weapons. I was wondering did anyone have any ideas for a stunt for a combo attack as we seem to end up attacking the same foe in the same instant quite a lot.
Every night has its day.
Even forever must come to an end....
I think.

Maybe a watered-down Stunt-level version of the creature feature Pack Tactics would work.

Fate 3.0 has rules for minions and mooks
It gives a bonus for people working together to cover when the bad guy gets his followers to rush you - or indeed when you yell "Get Him!" to your followers.
This is a+1 bonus to act and react

or have an aspect of "2 acting as 1" to allow any spin from the first rolled attach to be added onto the 2nd roll so it is all resolved as one action.

Legends of Anglerre has rules for Gestalt characters - defining a group as a single character and resolving all tests as 'the group' rather than as individuals.
I would HATE to be a character in one of the stories I write -
and then there are the days when it looks too much like I AM!

Likewise, using the rules for providing assistance could be a simple way to do this. You can already make a skill roll to provide a comrade with an Aspect "Helped by [insert name]" that they can free-tag. I always make that roll 2 difficulty lower than the actual roll needed to succeed. A Stunt reflecting a +2 bonus to help another person in combat (maybe "Coordinated Strike") could be based on these rules.

Would it be broken for either/both of them to take a stunt that allows them to free tag the other's manuevers or inflicted consequences an additional time?

So Hanz and Franz both have the stunt Ve Vill Pump you Ap! (-1)

Hanz manuevers Bob with Fists to put the aspect Cornered on Bob, so both Hanz and Franz can tag the aspect.

You only ever get 1 tag per aspect, so yes, it would be broken, if they both get 1 tag with a total of 2. You can let someone else use the tags you have at your disposal without a stunt, provided the aspect can aid in the action.

The Pack stunt or one putting up maneuvers for the other to use would probably be the best way to go. Or, like Harry and Murphy often do, one is covering while the other one is attacking, so the one that is attacking doesn't have to divert his attention.
Maybe create a stunt as the opposite of "Full Defence", dropping your defence to mediocre for a +2 on your attack roll, while the other takes a stunt, that aids in covering additional people in close combat with a block.

My idea or a teamwork stunt.

Well oiled unit (Weapons)
Both Teammates need to have the stunt.
It allows you to make maneuvers at +2. The resulting aspect can only be tagged by your partner.
When you tag an aspect your partner has specifically created for you, you get a +3 bonus out of it instead of a +2.
