Here I have a problem when it comes to TTH fixing Little Chicago.  Bob clearly said Harry would have been toasted if he used it.  Since Bob missed the screw-up in the first place, then the question is how the hell can TTH come back when he was already blown away once he finally use Little Chicago in some point after PG events without any distraction.  I mean supposed Harry, in case, in some future spotted this screw-up before using it and then time-travelled to PG in later future and fixed LC beforehand, then won't it be like he has just erased his own timeline literally and that he can't come back to the future to pick up where he left behind?  Leaving him running around while an alternate Harry exists in the current Dresden universe, I guess that would be my exact thought if TTH theory did happened.

Ugh, I hate time paradox and slip theories...

EDIT: Sorry, had a long day and should have slapped my sleepyhead

What articles and sources have you found very useful as a guideline to help you develop the magic rules/systems for your works?  So far I've found this series an excellent start: http://pymfanasywriter.blogspot.com/2008/10/magic-rules-part-1-types-of-magic.html

Gee whiz a plenty of book recommendations.  Choices, choices, choices, I know I really don't need many books on the shelves to get me start to develop the writing techniques.  I've narrowed to these books mentioned here or elsewhere and will pick 2-4 out of these:

  • The Write Great Fiction Collection Bundle (Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell, Characters, Emotion & Viewpoint by Nancy Kress, Dialogue by Gloria Kempton, Description & Setting by Ron Rozelle and Revision & Self-Editing by James Scott Bell)
  • Self-Editing for Fiction Writers, Second Edition: How to Edit Yourself Into Print
    by Renni Browne
  • First Draft in 30 Days by Karen Wiesne
  • The Marshall Plan for Novel Writing by Evan Marshall
  • Writing the Breakout Novel Workbook by Donald Maass
  • The Fire in Fiction: Passion, Purpose and Techniques to Make Your Novel Great by Donald Maass
  • You Can Write A Novel by James V. Smith
  • How Not to Write a Novel: 200 Classic Mistakes and How to Avoid Them--A Misstep-by-Misstep Guide by Howard Mittelmark
  • On Writing by Stephen King

Any books I missed that I should consider too?

Jim's livejournal was a good start.  What sites and books would you recommend to learn more writing fiction methods/techniques, prefer if there's any that specialize in the fantasy area/series?

Author Craft / Re: Necromancy and those that practice it

With all the stories I've ever come across, whenever they mention Necromancers, they're usually the evil creepy guy raising the army of zombies and skeletons to conquer the world.

My question is, has there ever been a story (or what not) where necromancers were good?  Or at least not seen as evil?

Anita Blake's def one but I only read the first nine books and am not sure if her "good guy" stance changed afterward.

Let's see...
Listens to Wind-Wes Studi
Karrin Murphy-Kathryn Morris
Valkyrie Gard-Ali Larter
Cujo Hendricks-?
Molly Carpenter-Laura Vandervoort
Sanya-Michael Clarke Duncan

Probably it's just me, I was think of somebody along like these:

Listen to Wind-Graham Greene (he may be too old now but since this thread is about "perfect casting" so)
Karrin Murphy-Yvonne Strahovski (she may be too pretty to be Murphy but hell she can kick butt)
Valkyrie Gard-Kristanna Loken
Molly Carpenter-Jordan Hinson
Sanya-Djimon Hounsou (minus the Russian accent)
Cujo Hendricks-Brock Lesner
