Could also be that she changed the Mantle itself instead of just restoring the factory settings. Maybe she wanted Harry to be a different kind of Knight than what she'd had in the past, and tweaked some of the subroutines. Everyone keeps remarking that All Winter Knights Are X-Y-Z, and Harry's persisted for a couple of years now without become a full-time psycho. Something's either different about Harry, or something's different about the Mantle, and that Stone Table transfer makes me suspicious.

A couple of years isn't all that long, though.  Especially when he was on life support for a big chunk of it.

Do you consider it strange from a writers point of view that such a significant person from Harry's past has played such a small role in the series?  It's his first love who he thought he'd killed who comes back and then....... gone?  It's odd to me.  Word had to have made the rounds that Dresden had been killed, and then even more waves must have been made upon his return.  She never even dropped by to see if the rumors were true.

Maybe she didn't need to.  She probably has plenty of contacts among the Fae.

Going back to Alera, I think you could do two books a season.  First is Tavi as an adolescent, reacting to everything.  Second is Tavi  finding his place in the world, seeing how things fit together. Third is Tavi as an adult, where he plans and shapes the world, instead of reacting.

I don't think we saw Tavi be delicate because his dramatic situations didn't require it.  But he used veils easily, and Amara singled those out as delicate. He did the weathercrafting along the Wall so circumspect that people didn't realize it was furycrafting.

But I think furycrafting's combat strength is in evocation and in a fast moving fight, Tavi is both better trained and more suited than Dresden.

I'd need to reread the books, but Tavi in SG murders Nico in the underworld.
