Um . . . I think that would a little too close to the original for comfort . . . ;)

Then I'm going to be in serious dang trouble when I try to publish one of my books because due to it's story within a story format it has two prologues and two epilogues.

Getting back to your question of having two different points of view between the prologue and main story, I'd think it'd be fine, just as long as the epilogue was written in the same point of view as the prologue, so there was continuity.

What about building suspense by writing down how your character feels during the chase?  Or even better take from the zombies point of view.  For example, on the chasing the field one.

They knew they had to get him.  It wasn't a matter of actual knowledge, but more of instinct.  Living flesh.  They hated living flesh.  To them, it was a disease, something to be eradicated at all costs.

Not if we use IRC (Internet Relay Chat).  I think we can set up a channel on an existing server.  It's been a long time since I've worked with IRC, so I don't remember exactly.

I second the motion on OpenDNS.  It's gotten me out of a pickle a couple of times when normal DNS has gone south.

Author Craft / Re: Motivation for a Fellow Writer
« on: September 25, 2008, 04:00:14 PM »
I've been a struggling writer for 20 years.  It isn't that I don't have passion for the craft, I love it when I'm in the zone.  But it's hard to get there.  Life is a major obstacle, so is my attitude about writing sometimes.  I wonder how relevant it is, compare myself to some of the greats, like Jim, or get overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work that is already out there.

I wish I had someone who would lean on my gently, but also be my sounding board when things get wound up too tight and my characters are chasing themselves around my head.

And maybe your friend does too.  So my best advice to you, is ask you friend what he needs to write and then offer him what support and motivation you can.

My name is Ani and I've being dreaming and writing for almost 22 years.  Don't have much to show for it yet, except a lot of learning and a faith that hasn't quite died yet.  There are some days I wonder though.  My dream started out in 1986 with a idea that we needed a good horse book.  That quickly turned into a series of novles that spanned from the 19th Century to the 26th Century and beyond.  The series in various stages of completiion with 3 novels that are done.  Two need major rewrites and the third could be published as is, but it feels like it isn't quitie ready for prime time yet.

You can read more about it here:  www.starsofheros.com.

And no, heros is not a misspelling to avoid a copyright infringment suit.  It meant a play on horse because there are still horses in this series.  The heroes are there too, though in their own eyes, they are just normal people.
