Just wondering but...anyone know how to convert things like this FROM DFA to DFRPG? I'm not a fan of the Accelerated system and continue to run the original DFRPG with a little Core thrown in

It is HUGE but Fate love is quite well represented there.  Of course, there are a fair amount of detractors.  Sucks this forum is going away. My 7 year DFRPG/DFA game was started here.

Mine began here too, and I still come here for advice and help. Gonna be a shame to see it all go

Thanks everyone for the posts, ideas, and help

And the updated Fiction

Fiction
A fiction is exactly what is sounds like, a being formed from the imagination of a mortal. In reality, a fiction is actually a Spirit being, that has manifested a physical form based on inspiration drawn from a mortal mind. However, once the form is taken, the Being is, for all intents and purposes, the fictional character who the Spirit appears to be (ex: A Fiction of Captain James T. Kirk, IS Captain James T. Kirk physically and mentally). The Fiction does retain knowledge of who it truly is, but they will not admit this to anyone, though they do go out of their way to fit in (meaning Captain Kirk will blend in, not run around asking where his starship is, or shooting random people with his phaser, but will act as a regular person, who just happens to be James T. Kirk.) Fictions are almost exclusively Science-Fiction characters, though on occasion there has been a superhero or two.

Musts
High Concept Must include fictional nature (ex: Fiction Security Guard or Fiction Soldier)

Powers:
Human Form (+1)
Heroic Change (-1) : Works similar to Beast Change, except the Fiction changes from their normal every day appearance to their fictional appearance. (Ex. Captain Kirk shifts from looking like William Shatner in normal street clothes to Captain Kirk complete with Classic Uniform, Phaser, Tricorder, and Communicator). All powers fall under this form, and are utilized through any items that appear during the change, except for:
Swift Transition with No Mortal Home (-1)

Important Skills: None
Minimum Refresh Cost (-Varies)
From the Casefiles: Various Sources

So, based on suggestions, here's the revised Child of the Armageddon Template

Child of the Armageddon
A Child of the Armageddon is one who carries the taint of Darkness (be it demons, Outsiders, Hell, etc) within their blood. This taint is passed down through the generations from parent to child. This taint endows the Child with an extraordinary power, however, the ability to absorb the power(s) of any Supernatural Being touched.

Musts
High Concept Must include your tainted nature (ex: Child of the Armageddon Detective, or Demon Tainted Cop)

Powers:
(-Varies) Mimic Abilities (note, as a Child is not a shapeshifter, they suffer a hunger track similar to that of a Vampire (as noted below). )
(+1) Feeding Dependency (Powers):  At the end of a scene where a Child takes the powers and/or skills of another, or uses already acquired powers, they suffer an attack equal to the number of refresh taken, resisted by their discipline.

Important Skills: None
Minimum Refresh Cost (-Varies)
From the Casefiles: Shannara Chronicles Season 2

I suppose that the Feeding Dependency on the Child of the Armageddon could affect their available Mimic points instead (thereby costing them a power or two as per feeding dependency and also affecting their ability to take other powers)

As for The Fiction...

Example
Name: James T Kirk
High Concept: Fictional Starfleet Captain
Trouble: Womanizing Swashbuckling Sci-Fi Character
Aspects:
Commanding Presence
I Dont Believe In The No Win Scenario
Loyal to Friends
Cowboy Diplomacy

Skills (Skipping)
Stunts and Powers
Item of Power: Phaser
    Deal Weapon 4 Stun Damage
    or
    Deal Weapon 4 Physical Damage
Item of Power: Communicator
    Supernatural Speed (Transporter Beaming)
Item of Power: Tricorder
    Supernatural Senses (Life Detector)
Human Form
Swift Transition with No Mortal Home

and I dont actually have an idea right now how much that would cost

So, came up with two concepts for a campaign concept I am working on, and want opinion/suggestions on the from the community. Thanks

Instead of a loss of powers, however, failure to deal with any stress overflow results in 1 free compel on the character per stress not absorbed.

Important Skills: None
Minimum Refresh Cost (-Varies)
From the Casefiles: Shannara Chronicles Season 2

The Fiction does retain knowledge of who it truly is, but they will not admit this to anyone, though they do go out of their 3way to fit in (meaning Captain Kirk will blend in, not run around asking where his starship is, or shooting random people with his phaser.) While fictions can be beings out of fantasy (Halflings, dragons, etc) the spirits involved tend to prefer modern and science fiction beings to become.

Musts
High Concept Must include fictional nature (ex: Fiction Security Guard or Fiction Soldier)

Powers:
All powers are based on the character the fiction is, with the exceptions below. Most powers will manifest as Objects of Power (with only the first one getting the refund as per the rules)
Human Form (+1)
Swift Transition with No Mortal Home (-1)

Important Skills: None
Minimum Refresh Cost (-Varies)

Just wondering if a Glamour or Greater Glamor would show up as real on a Camera or such?

After re-reading the sections in the books about refresh, I'm going to go with refresh every session, unless the session ends in the middle of a combat, whereupon the refresh will occur once that combat is completed

Gotcha. So it is with every Milestone. Thing is with my group I was only giving minor milestones out every 2-3 sessions not every session. Though refresh was resetting each session, unless we broke in the middle of combat or somesuch

I should point out that only one player at this time will be using the deck. The rest seem to be sticking to the dice

DFRPG / Refreshing FATE Points
« on: May 03, 2016, 07:39:52 PM »
So, while bored at work with time to kill I've been looking over various DFRPG resources and such online. While reading through this one site that calls itself a DFRPG Workshop (http://www.myth-weavers.com/wiki/index.php/LearnDresdenFilesRPG) I came across this statement regarding refresh
Quote
He started with 10 Refresh, and I spent 7 of them on Mortal Stunts and Supernatural Powers (he's the son of a Titan, he needed some pizzazz!). That leaves him with an Adjusted Refresh (the refresh remaining) of 3. At every Milestone, assuming he's spent his FP below 3, he would be granted enough FP to bring him to 3 for the start of the next chapter or adventure.

Now, I THOUGHT Fate points refreshed every session, not every milestone. Am I correct or is this GM? Because if they refreshed every milestone, that would make compels MUCH more important to players

DFRPG / Re: Character creation help - Mermaid
« on: May 02, 2016, 07:25:08 PM »
Well, there are, as so often, a few ways to do this.

First, the Aquatic power seems like a must.

As a base concept, I think we could take something like this:

High concept: Cursed Mermaid
Trouble: Cursed to [insert effect of curse]

Powers:
Glamor [-2]
Human Form (Involuntary, touching water) [+2]
affecting:
 Aquatic [-1]
Inhuman Speed (representing the fin) [-2]

Total cost: -3

This would be your mermaid who would get legs when she is on dry land and a fin when in the water. That would make it easier for her to be useful in a campaign. The involuntary part of the human form can underline the curse.

The curse itself would make most sense as your trouble aspect. It would be compelled when the curse acts up and bad things would happen to you. In return, you would get a Fate point.

If you want to have more powers (for example greater glamors instead of normal glamors), you'd just need to adjust for that. Or we could look into other powers. Commanding fish, for example. Or anything else you like her to have.

Oh, I'm not really using a template here. You could probably fit this into the changeling template, but I find they are good as guidelines but can get in the way with some characters. They are better created freely.

I am SO stealing this as a template for my DFRPG Campaign world. Of course, credit will be given where due :)

Well, being the GM in question, I think I like the idea of re-shuffle when one of the extreme cards comes up (++++, 0000, ----) or when the deck is used up

Doesn't Sponsored Magic also allow you to incur debt rather than backlash as well as add to your control and the power of the spell for debt?
