The whole Accords thing could be such an interesting twist, metaplot, etc.

I might not even use it or anything it was just I was talking about how templates can be fluid as opposed to being a firm class in other games and then someone mention those two and we were like "oooohh... wonder if its possible".

Changeling and WCV or RCI I can agree on, because Changeling as a template forces you to be mortal, fae or inbetween. Although you could play Changeling for a while, pick mortal and then become RCI. Plus with both Changeling and WCV I believe the father to be White Court Vampire or Fae and he can't be both (someone correct me on this if I'm wrong please).

Now for example, wereform could become RCI in theory because they are otherwise mortal except for the fact they can change shape. The Alphas simply learned how to shapeshift through magic, they aren't genetically werewolves or anything. One of them could be infected by a RCV. Now the question is does becoming RCI invalidate someones magic (be faith or arcane based).

I'm also tempted to throw it in the other forums and see if I could get a JB answer out of the WCV infected by a RCV and becoming WCV/RCI hybrid. I just hope if I ask I don't ruin a story idea *grins*.

The problem with that is you can be a mixed template in alot of cases, you could be a red court infected and have magic for example. I'm not sure about the novels because alot of situations in the RPG haven't answered by them (we have seen RCV spell casters for example but not RCI spell casters, but it seems like it might be possible).

DFRPG / Mixed Vampire idea.. workable?
« on: September 01, 2011, 02:46:50 PM »
I was playtesting character creation with a number of friends the other day and we were talking about Red Court Infected and White Court Virgin, and then how other templates can be mixed (werebeast wizard, etc) and then mentioned those that couldn't be mixed. Yet we got this idea that nothing, afaik, says a White Court Virgin can't be turned into a Red Court Infected.

Now I know there are gameplay and common sense arguments, but has anything specifically said either in game rules or in any novel, short story, etc that this is impossible?

DFRPG / Flaws and Weaknesses - help?
« on: August 30, 2011, 05:48:50 PM »
I haven't seen anything in the book that I can use to model flaws and weaknesses in a character, example is the system used in the original World of Darkness system where you could take flaws to give you back points.

I have talking this over with some of my players (well more like play testers) and they thought about setting up some of the phase aspects like, however picking a negative aspect (with no positives) goes against the nature of how to pick phase aspects and likewise gives no point benefit in character creation.

Now I know that this is sometimes used for power gaming, take a bunch of flaws to powergame into a more powerful character then quietly ignoring those flaws in game play. However I would like to possibly offer the option, as long as it doesn't get out of control.

I like flawed characters myself, I thought of characters missing limbs, are deaf, blind, etc. In one case I have a blind friend who I find having characters who are blind for him make it easier for him to relate to playing the character.

Anybody else run into this and have any suggestions?

DFRPG / New GM - Some questions
« on: August 14, 2011, 06:42:39 AM »
Ok, love the system myself even though I have to wrap my brain around it since I have never used FUDGE, FATE, etc (D&D 2nd, 3rd, 4th,etc, WoD, BESM, etc experience).

I had one player playing a Focused Prac, now I ran into some issues on magic which for time sake I couldn't give him a clear answer on. Really how powerful can your magic be at the Focused Prac level, for example after mulling aorund lotsa of different types of magic he decided to be a telekineticist basically. At one point he wanted to basically rip a street light from its housing from its mind and beat someone with it or he was debating just throw it in the NPC's way to block him or something (don't mind that it would have killed the person in one blow or something). In the short I told him no because I figured it'd require way too many shifts for him to manage, or the roll would be way too high, etc.

Now, assuming its possible, how would I have gone about figuring out number of shifts required and such?

Another character is a were-form, I couldn't find in the book how long it takes someone to change. Obviously its pretty quick in terms of the novels but its not literally no time. He basically wanted to wereform in combat and I wasn't sure how to figure exactly how long that would take, for example is it so quick he could take more actions, would it take an entire turn, etc.

Best way to handle making it for different platforms is converting to Java.
