Author Craft / Re: 50 years??? Challenges

Isaac Asimov. My first brother introduced me to him about a year after the divorce from my first husband.  Asimov opened new doors for me in terms of living my life.  I can't really say he has influenced my writing, which is pretty scant.  I'm gradually trying to get over the bureaucratic style imposed by over 20+ years in a Federal job.

Site Suggestions & Support / Re: Known Issues After Downtime

Iago, Thanks again for getting us back on THE Forum!

I've noticed that going to "replies to your posts" puts me at the beginning of each thread, rather than the message immediately after my most recent post within the thread.  Is that fixable?  Please? (Whenever you have time.)

Author Craft / Re: When writing, you know you are in trouble when...

Quantus, Thanks for answering my question (back on page 2).

Saw a Garrison Keillor  "Prairie Home Companion" Summer Love concert last week & was blown away by his mastery of timing and pacing and lyrical imagery.  He did a couple of erotic bits that delighted me away without ever saying anything explicit.  Made me want to get back to writing, which I haven't done much of the past two years.

Must get the house organized first.  Am actually beginning to make notable progress in a few spots.

Author Craft / Re: Question on Trademark or Copywrite

Copywrite does not equal copyright.  I think the latter is more of a concern here.

I was born in Waco, TX.  Don't remember living there - it was war time & we moved when my Dad got sent overseas. First place I remember living was Wheeling, WV (Grandpap's house).

But not as huge as Alaska.

I take it you aren't a native Texan?

Veeerrrryyy interesting!  I have to give this some serious thought!

Where is the site for this event, please?

Thanks, KD.  Now I'll have to see if he's the one I was next to in a group shot.

Sorry I forgot my shamrocks, guys.  Saw a number of folks I know from previous events.  Yay!  MegEvonne was there! Soulless Mystic, of course.  Gingerbread Man was there. It was good to meet you Knight Disciple!  I aske several couples if they were from Oklahoma, but didn't manage to encoutner Piotr & Herself  (maybe next time?).

Cool people, as is usual at a Butcher signing.

Diedre was also cool.  I bought the first of her books and the latest of Shannon's, and the "Dark and Stormy Knights", of course.

Diedre is also Shannon's agent, if I recall correctly.

Shannon has another book coming out in November (in the Sentinel Wars series).

Jim is working on his new series, but not ready to talk about it yet.

There were many photos taken. Can't recall the name of the guy in the red shirt was next to in a group shot. (If you read this, please remind me!)   I even managed to get a few on my digital camera.  Haven't yet had time to look at them or try to post some. One of these days.

Just wanted to let everyone who's going to the signing in Independence Saturday to know about the evening entertainment that's available on the other side of the KC metro area.

Musical Blades, a pirate, sea shanty, comedy and Irish music band is playing from (9 pm to 1 am at Waxy O'Shea's  Irish Pub in Shawnee, KS.  Exit I-35 to go west on Shawnee Mission Parkway.  Pub is on the NW corner of the SMP with Quivera.  Come early for dinner,  Families welcome. ( Adult cover charge of $2 beginning at 8 pm. )  The food is good, prices reasonable.  Hope some of you can make it!

To hear what the band sound like visit this website:  http://www.musicalblades.com/
They perform at many RenFairs around the country.  Some of you may have already heard them.

Yay Piotr!  Will you be staying overnight in the KC area?

There's a band playing at an Irish pub called Waxy O'Shea's Saturday night. (It's west of I-35 on Shawnee Mission Parkway at the intersection of Quivera.) Daughter and I and my best friend are going there for dinner about 8 pm. No cover charge before 8 pm.  $2/adult after that time.  Food is good and prices reasonable.  You're welcome to join us, if you'd like to.  Band starts at 9 pm, stops at 1 am.

A number of our SCA friends will be there.  One of them is in the band.  Not sure what kind of music it will be.

To other JB fans who go to the mid-day signing:  The above is really an open invitation; the more the merrier!
