DF Spoilers / Favourite Head Canons?
« on: October 03, 2024, 04:00:06 AM »
What are your favourite head canons of your own making?

I have a few favourite head canons.

Joan of Arc and Gilles de Rais were the last time a Knight of the Cross and Winter Knight worked together.

Winter was involved in the Cold War teaching each side how to do spy games without actually going to war directly.

Anduriel whispered to Nicodemus:

He thinks he knows Faith.

After Michaels plea for redemption during Skin Game. Triggering Nicodemus's maniacal laughter and response.

It's what Denarians do whisper lies at exact moments to push people over the edge.

Share, discuss.

Ooh I like the catch of not working during times of Peace. I've been searching for a reason he would be involved in each and every war.

Thanks I didn't think I'd get a response.

I like your stats I don't know what Y Ddraig Goch's weaknesses would be. Hmmm my first thoughts would be the opposit elements Fire and Water but I don't know how that would work. I'm not sure Iron works lore wise because he was a symbol of military conquest and leadership in British Isles who used Iron to do it.

I thought maybe Snorkelling from this RPG Resource wiki to increase the refresh but if you think it can be done with the 8 or 10 that might not be necessary.

https://dfrpg-resources.fandom.com/wiki/NPCs

Snorkeling (40 skill points, 13 refresh, skill cap superb) You're pretty damn powerful. Most cities don't have more than one or two guys at this level. I'm considering increasing the skill cap to fantastic for this level.

DFRPG / Character Refresh and Stats?

So I don't have any games running. Wish I did but it's hard to find people who have read the books and want to do the RPG in my area. If I were to do a game though. It would be Dresden Files Indiana Jones. Basically a dungeon crawl of ancient sites, tombs and civilisations.

Egypt obviously, but also.

Vatican Archives or British Museum.

Mummy's in Peru from a subfaction of the Red Court one of those elder gods they took over which could tie into the South American section of Paranet Papers.

Maybe some artifacts that escaped Hades Vault when Harry broke in.

The Terracotta Army.

The Hanging Gardens in Ancient Babylon.

A character has been bouncing around in my mind for years.

William Fitz The Dragon Knight

A sponsored night of Y Ddraig Goch. The Welsh Dragon. A greater Dragon scion who theirs various lore on and maybe was even a co sponsor of King Arthur.

Question is how would you Stat and Refresh such a character?

The Power Gamer in me wants to make him atleast Winter Knight level or maybe just below it. Fire and Earth instead of Air and Ice. Oh and instead of a staff he has a magic Cutlass.

I'd like to make him from an immortal or longevity species. White council probably wouldn't work cause in my head he was a Pirate in the early 1700s, Fought in the French and Indian Wars, Seven Years War, Revolution (Loyalist) French Revolution, Crimea, American Civil War, Frontier, Steampunk Victorian arc, WW1, Prohibition, WW2, Vietnam/Civil Rights Movement and early 9/11 response.

He wouldn't have risen farther than the rank of Captain. Colonel at most.

I have another idea of him having Seven Sons born throughout the 20th century but want to focus on this one primary character for now.

Maybe he's a scion himself of Y Ddraig Goch?

I've got other characters in mind as I said. A White Court Spymaster whose been around since the French Revolution and who helped orchestrate the downfall of the Black Court. Archenemy of The Dragon Knight perhaps but now forced to work together.

I'd like Jack Frost and Peter Pan as Princeling of Winter and Summer Courts to make an appearance. I have those characters more or less down though.

Anyway help refreshing or statting such a character would be appreciated.

Might be Jim just forgot he had said that he had to think about it when he was asked on the dresden files podcast so maybe he just had to narrow down what he wanted.

Biggest highlight is Jim says Twelve Months is 4 weeks away from being finished.

So hopefully we'll get it sometime this year.

DF Spoilers / Re: Warden Survival Rate and Current Strength?
« on: August 01, 2024, 08:18:35 AM »
Found a relevant passage of about a thousand wizards hearing Ariana's peace proposal in Changes.

Certainly the White Council was in a state of total war for the Red Court or atleast close to it. We know without the auxiliary support from the Venatori and Fellowship the White Council would have lost. So everyone being conscripted for some sort of active service seems plausible. Harry certainly was and they wanted nothing to do with him.

It also depends on what the increased recruitment rate is both in terms of Wardens and inductee's into the White Council in general. Harry mentions that since population boom the White Council can't keep up with grade A talent emerging. Hannah Ascher certainly proves that people capable of magical combat are among them she managed to kill several wardens before Lasciel presumably. Harry also mentions during lulls of the War Wardens were working double time to clean up all the sprouting warlocks and sorcerors.

Harry estimated that there were 1000 jaguar and priests on each side of the pyramids at Chitzen Itza.
Fomor had between 5 and 7000 in BG.

No wonder Wardens are being overrun. Having said that Carlos estimated in WK that his guys could take half a dozen Ramps in a straight up fight each. So let's assume 1v6 ratio.

White Council vs Red Court was probably a fair fight then, or atleast it was until The decimation.

Still hard to judge numbers given population boom and recruiting.

DF Spoilers / Warden Survival Rate and Current Strength?

There was the Brute Squad at Archangel. Red Court War and the counter attack in Dead Beat saw almost 200 wardens dead let's assume 200 wardens dead throughout the war atleast. Carlos, Yoshimo, Chandler, Wild Bill represented the elite of what was left to be given the tasks of guarding Senior Council at the Peace Talks 3 of the 4 killed or missing in action.

La Fortier and Cristos have about a third of the white council in their faction. 500 appeared at Morgans trial. Assuming some didn't come or couldn't fit that puts White Council numbers at 1500 to 2000 range.

That's about 10 percent of wizards were wardens.

What are the Warden numbers at now? less than 50?

DF Spoilers / Re: Never build a gun that can be pointed at you
« on: June 03, 2024, 02:05:26 AM »
I was with you up until Uriel being Chancellor Palpatine and the big bad. That frustrates me. I agree with you on policy being used against and any weapons you create can be pointed against you. I thin Mab actually enjoys that. She's like Thanos who first time he met Gamora gave her a knife that could pierce him otherwise she wouldn't be a worthy tool for him to wield. Creating a student protege that can defeat and surpusses you is I imagine part of the joy of being a mentor fomr Socrates Plato and Aristotle to master swordsmen to flying aces inw orld war 2 to sensai's to parent you want the one your teaching to someday surpass and be able to defeat you. The Greek Gods defeated the Titans and Zeus was prophesied to be defeated bya son of his some day. It's a common theme in fiction and myth. Maybe not reality and I hope not with Maggie and Molly. But certainly with Anakin and Obi Wan even though Anakin failed in that regard and many others.

I think Uriel was transubstantiated into Malcolm and Uriel is Harry's father or Father I think that'd be cool I'm not sure it's the actual case. It's a fun theory.

Mab and Titania hadn't talked since Hastings in 1066.

So yeah that suggest William the Conquerer.

Other than the brief interaction with her at the end of BG.

I think you meant Rashid's true age is 1300 or so years, but his body has only aged around 300 or so years because of all the time he spent in the Nevernever.  I believe that was also an issue for Margaret, Harry's mother, she appeared a lot younger than her actual years because of all the time she spent in the Nevernever.

Heavily implied given the WOJ's on Rashid.

Also given Margaret le Fey was around 100 years old chronologically when she gave birth to Thomas and Harry. When physically they're supposed to age normally until they're in their 50s.

DF Spoilers / Re: Dead Beat Question

Why did CorpseTaker and his/her ghoul go to the morgue?  What did they really need from from Dr. Bartlesby's affects? Other than to give Harry an opportunity to observe them and see what they were?

I think they figured out the ballooner must have swallowed some evidence. So it'd be in his stomach or show up on the autopsy.

DF Spoilers / Re: Justine DuMorne is Kemmler (Theory)

Why not the other way around? ??? ??? If Dr Who and the Master can change sex with a body change it should work for Kemmler as well... They'd never expect it! ::)

I'm sure Corpestaker possessed many men at one point or another. If she can I don't see why Kemmler wouldn't, couldn't or didn't.

DF Spoilers / Re: Why did Dumorne put the mental whamy on when he did?
« on: December 21, 2023, 12:32:11 PM »
I don't  think we have enough info.  Furthermore, what info we do have is highly-suspect:  every time Harry recalls the events or has a flashback, we see something very different.  We know harry was right off of a mental trauma, with consequent likely memory-issues.

What if it wasn't even communicated / collaborated between Justin & HWWB?  What if Justin wasn't in league with the Walker at all, but detected the Walker's arrival (much as Harry and Eb did the cornerhounds in Peace Talks) then panicked, and tried to force the Starborn wizard(s) to be ready...?

Yeah that could be it. It certainly seemed rushed after raising a pair of kids for 6 years.
