DF Spoilers / Re: Chekhov's Arthurian Athame
« on: December 23, 2023, 06:13:17 PM »

... despite all of that, I say:  we have remarkably little sense of how the larger Arthuriana corpus (and which version(s) of it) map into (and/or otherwise influence/inform) the Dresdenverse.

Or have I overlooked a bunch of stuff?

Re: The larger sense of source material, I think Le Morte D'Arthur by Thomas Mallory may be a good candidate for sourcing and influencing Jim's interpretation.  I also think that it would be interesting if Elaine Mallory had some relation to the Arthurian legends.  I haven't read Le Morte in years, but may pick it up over the holiday to see if anything jumps out.

Does Harry still have the perfect recall that Lash gave him to be able to create the DarkHallow?  Since she's been gone, does he still have that capability?

DF Spoilers / Has Harry ever met the Baba yaga?
« on: September 10, 2023, 05:16:36 AM »
It's late so my brain is slow, but I don't think he has (met the Baba Yaga).  If he does, what do people think it would be like?

DF Spoilers / Re: Jim interview
« on: September 20, 2022, 03:33:46 AM »
In the interview{15:15}, the question was "Was there a clue to who the big bad of the series is in Storm Front?"
Answer " I suppose the sleeper was, there's so many villans, but he's so big he was more of an environment."

Who is the sleeper?  is it he who walks beside?

I don't remember anything being mentioned as the sleeper.

DF Spoilers / Did I miss something...?

What in the heck is Harry talking about here?  This is from BG, when Ethniu let loose with the eye on the northside.

"The world gasped and went scarlet again, red light flooding through the haze of war. The air screamed with unnatural power as the Eye of Baylor unleashed raw destruction upon the city, and my heart took a terrified flutter.  I had only once before witnessed destructive power on that order of magnitude, and that had been at the will of the Fallen Angel himself - and even then it had been carefully constrained, user for a purpose."

When did Harry witness the power of Lucifer?  Or am I misreading who he's talking about?  I don't think any of the nickelheads have shown anything like the power of the Eye.

DF Spoilers / Re: What Should Butters Ask For?

I think Butters, with all of the best intentions, is going to ask for something big and important, and then Mab is going to say, "My Knight, could you help out butters with a little something....."

DF Spoilers / Re: Great Jim interview from December 2020

So I'm watching this interview again, and the podcasters asked about when we'd see Thomas again.  They all want to know when they'd see him again, because the feared missing him.  JB's reply was "you could say he hasn't grown very much".  Perhaps Demonreach is the Chrysalis and Thomas is the soon to be more powerfull butterfly.

DF Spoilers / Re: What is your favorite part and why?

I tend to go through whole books based on what I read here that triggers something. Though for me the scenes that I go back to are the Harry/Michael ones.
Harry - I'm lost
Michael - I'll be there for you, which ever way you choose to go

And Michael coming back in Skin Game, kicking down the m'fing fence to face Nic. Damn!

Also, not sure we can take this as confirmation - but when asked about what the Black Council were doing in Peace Talks and Battle Ground, Jim responded that the Black Council was very busy not getting squashed by Ethniu. Which could well imply that any of those who were at the Battle were not in fact Black Council. It's not hard evidence, but it's something.

I don't know if trying hard not to be squashed by Ethniu was harder than being in Wisconsin, I take that line to mean that members of the Black Council were in Chicago and actively fighting.  What if the setup is that Eb is black council due to his hatred of the White Court?   The kind of hate he demonstrated and how "out of control" he was, to the point of killing Harry could show that he'd do anything to destroy the Whamps.  He's the black staff, so he's already proven he is an end justify the means kind of guy.  Maybe the black council is the necessary evil to get him what he wants. The level of betrayal of Eb being on the black council could be the thing that brings Harry to the point of defying the White Council and forcing Eb to face him because of the parole conditions imposed by the White Council.  And that kind of evil shit is not beyond Mr. Butcher.

DF Spoilers / Re: Molly's new magic
« on: March 11, 2021, 09:25:46 PM »
All of this discussion makes me think Harry's true strength is the combination of his high voltage and his burgeoning ability to figure out the long game and plan for that.  Lately he's been growing in figuring things out ahead of time, and his magical growth has slowed.  He's still getting power ups through magical item acquisition, but he's been leaning more on using his power effectively rather than solely on brute force.  I believe these 2 facets coming together is what people feared and now see happening.

That being said, I'd love to see Harry go to school with RiverShoulders or spend time in Valhalla South with Vadderung and get a taste of the learning Merlin got.

DF Spoilers / WHat about Bob?
« on: December 07, 2020, 05:54:41 PM »
Bob spent a long time swirling around Eihniu during the binding, which could arguably be Harry's largest working yet.  One of Harry's power sources was the Spear of Longinus, an almost sentient holy relic.  I wonder, how Bob was effected by the power of the spear? an upgrade?  Or as a spirit of intellect is he immune to it's influence?

Why didn't Mother Winter give Harry a gift at Christmas?  Or did I/we miss it?
