DFRPG / Re: Removal of Death Curse

In all honesty the player doesn't know it's coming, as always I'm planning ahead. Next session is Sunday, but I don't want to perma-nerf the character (other bad choices have led to as loss of options).  I like the idea of using it as an RP hook. The lines of the curse were something like 'By striking me, you're striking yourself' (Obi-wan esque) I was adlibbing as I was on the backfoot as had lots of mystery solving planned.

Sorry for the lack of reply - been hectic in the real world.
Basically I stole The Man Who Laughs from Chuthulu. So a distant (very) descendant used proxy power from the Outsiders to travel through time to start an Apocalypse. The character slashed his throat instead of doing mystery plot solving (fair enough, I'm always down with swift problem solving). The game mechanics are that he only rolls 2 dice when trying to harm others due to DeathCurse (infanticide?) PTSD

Hi all.
One of my players got themselves hit with a deathcurse. As fun as it is tormenting them with limited offensive ability it probably only fair to set a 'quest' to have it mitigated.
Any suggestions from the hive mind before I get too twisted with my thinking.

Thanks for all your help so far.
No I'm thinking, why would a fetch come through a mirror if it's going to be nearly powerless due to the threshold? Do they spend a lot of time hanging out in public toilets? :-)

Cool. Thanks for that. I was being lazy and just using the index in YS.
Another question - if they can enter through mirrors does that mean that they aren't worried by thresholds?
I always tend to think that fae are a little odd when it comes to some rules

Odd question, other than Proven Guilty, does anybody know where I could find some game stats for phobophages/fetches

Cheers

Hi all.
I'm thinking of having a group of sessions based around various urban legends, ie 'Bloody Mary', 'he was inside the house all along'etc.
I'm just try in to think of a connecting story where someone/thing is causing the Urban Legends to come real. I have a few ideas but there's nothing so twisted as a communal internet mind... ...

Cheers

Thanks for the suggestions guys, all very much appreciated  - think I'll try combining The Krampus and Die Hard somehow. Fingers crossed it's not a train wreck!

Hi all

(Anyone playing in Oxford please stop reading now! ☺)

I'm planning on running a 'Christmas Special' session.

I can't help thinking that some kind of bastardisation of Die Hard with Winter Fae might be fun.

So I thought I'd turn to the forums for some brainstorming and such...

Any ideas how I could make this idea fun?

Cheers

John

DFRPG / Re: Quick and Dirty Domination

The Your Story book describes Domination:- Psychic Domination as a Discipline vs Discipline attack, but reads as though it's clearly a behind the scenes kind of power.

I'm kind of liking the modified breath weapon approach with Attackers Discipline vs Defenders Conviction - may make it a lot less clunky and painful than last time.

cheers guys

DFRPG / Quick and Dirty Domination
« on: November 04, 2015, 08:56:52 PM »
Hi all,

I'm looking for suggestions on mechanics for quick and dirty Domination by a Black Court Vampire. As in making a character act for the vampire for a round or 2 in combat - a bit like the evil Christopher Lee stare with a very short effect, i.e. one Pc is made to attack another but only short lived.

I tried it in my last session as Discipline vs Discipline mental attack wearing the PC down into their consequences but it seemed a bit slow, clunky and nobody enjoyed it, not even me!

Any suggestions on how a quick and dirty short term domination may be played out?

cheers

John

Hi all.
What's the current view on killing Renfields with magic
Lawbreaker or not?
