Tersa,
I do know that the store in KC will gladly have him sign a book and ship it to you if you call them and ask.  I
found that out AFTER I took off work and drove there last year.  :P

Would it be possible to allow a user to set preferences for which unread posts they want to have added to the "Unread posts since last visit" list? I ask, because while I've read all of the Dresden books, I'm still working my way through the Codex Alera, and I've noticed several spoilery topic subjects in the Unread Posts list whenever I check it. I do my best to just ignore them, but things like "Isana's Marriage" and such still make an impression.

It might be helpful to posters who haven't read all of both series to be able to check off whether or not they want unread posts from both the Dresden section and the Codex Alera section, or even whether or not they want posts from the Spoilers sections of either forum to be added.

Thanks for your time and effort in running the board, Iago and mods.

It does take a minute to do it, but I actually go into the sections I'm not interested in, like the Codex Alera since I haven't read any of them yet, then hit the 'mark as read' without even paying attention to the topic threads.  I go through all of the sections I don't read before I hit the 'Show Unread Posts since last visit' link.  It really shortens up the list!  :)

Author Craft / Re: Readers Block?

Thanks for the advice oh and TBP? one thing that could be causing it is that i haven't really been feeling myself lately. I've been reading more comics than literature lately. I might buy Watchmen over the weekend, and i also ordered some more books yesterday to help my RB.

Red Seas Under Red Skies-Scott Lynch
Proven Guilty-Jim Butcher(I don't have Dead Beat or White Night yet but they had PG on special)

I just started Proven Guilty, but for me, it didn't quite grab me the way Dead Beat did.  Not sure it'll help you get past it.  Of course, we are all struck differently.  ;)
But you said you don't feel quite yourself.  I know that feeling.  I find that if there's anything you typically do for yourself that you really love, but haven't done a lot of (for me it was driving and singing), DO IT!  I didn't realize how much I missed just driving around, but with gas prices, it's an expensive release/hobby, whatever you wanna call it.  Just try and find something that is a part of you that you've been ignoring.  Once you sort through it a little, you'll feel more like yourself and the other stuff will come back as well.  Good luck!!   :)

"normals" has been used for such a description in something, but I can't for the life of me remember where I'd heard it!

DF Books / Re: Did you discover the books because of the TV Show?
« on: August 17, 2007, 03:41:01 PM »
I saw the show first.  I don't even think I caught the first episodes.  But I liked it right away.  So, of course, I wasn't surprised when Sci-Fi canceled it.  Networks always seem to cancel the shows I immediately like.  Never fails.  *sigh*

Are you serious about the CEO hating science fiction?!  How stupid is that?!?!  Sounds like a recipie for disaster to me.

The books are different.  Sometimes that doesn't work too well, but this seem to fit in either setting.  I do get crossed up sometimes when I'm reading and it isn't the same as the tv show.  But that's getting easier.   :)
