Yeah, I know, "people are irrational about family" is one of the themes of the book. But Lara's White Court. She's been surviving in a really deadly society for a long time. She really ought to be more controlled than that.

Even without Demonreach, there wasn't much chance of that working out for her.

She was there in WN. She's seen what happens when a White Court vampire goes up against a combat-capable wizard; it ain't good for the vampire. Sure, she had Valkyrie backup, but Harry could have fried or frozen her just as quickly as he told the island to grab her - before Freydis could have done anything.

I wonder if there is a way to balance GMs who think balance is an issue.(balance and video games have totally corrupted pen and paper) And always its we need to balance wizards not the melee. This game is about wizards not the add ons. If you have a player who wants to play a wolf make sure they understand there taking a secondary support role. Create situation where the secondary support roles shine. If you play the game as a role play game and not a video game it should not be all combat. Balance is in the role play not in the who does more DPS that a lousy video game.

The way I look at it, shapechanging might change what it looks like or can do, but doesn't change what it is.

Put another way, if you're a Faerie using Faerie magic to shapeshift, then Faerie magic can't protect you from something that is harmful to Faeries.
