The council was afraid of Harry long before most of this happened. Basically, because of his fire magic that he used to kill Dumorne at 16....and because his mother was Maggie LeFae.

Still this is a good reference list.

However, pretty sure the only ones in the White Council who knew Dresden has a kid besides Molly, were Ebenezer & Luccio. Possibly the Gatekeeper. Doubt they'd tell.

From Changes, chapter 18:Chapter 28:And Chapter 33:
And from chapter 4 of Ghost Story:
As for Cold Days, Harry spends a substantial length of time achieving the necessary consciousness to remember a conversation.  There's a big gap between waking up on Demonreach in the final moment of Ghost Story and the first scene of Cold Days:
The exact length of time can be flexible, as it takes place in the Nevernever, which doesn't have to have a 1:1 correlation with the mortal world.
thanks. One reference from each book is enough.  :)
I've got to get these books downloaded on a device with a search function.

I had remembered it was snowing in Ghost Story not that it was May.  Alas, GS was one of 2 least fav Dresden Books, so I've only read it cover to cover once. I forgot Mab hanging out at Demonreach caused the snow in May.
So for about a year...Winter Queen, Winter Knight, & Winter Lady pretty much sat on the bench. I guess Lea was very busy & not just mentoring Molly.

Thanks I understand this part of the timeline better.

Not quite.  Changes and Cold Days take place about a year apart, with Ghost Story at the approximate midway point.  See the first posts on this thread:

11 ASF, October: Changes
And 45 minutes later: Aftermath, a novelette from Murphy's POV, published exclusively in Side Jobs.

12 ASF, May 9th: Ghost Story

12 ASF, September: Bombshells, the Molly-POV story from Dangerous Women.

12 ASF, October 31: Cold Days

14 ASF, late February: Skin Game

I did try to look at your timeline. looks like you put a lot of hard work into it....but it twists my head in knots especially at this time of night.

Is May 9th given as a date in Ghost Story? I'm too tired to look, so I'll assume it was a given.

The only bit I remember is Harry being told he'd been 'dead' for 6 months before achieving ghostly consciousness. Later in Cold Days, he told Thomas he was in a coma and after he awoke had about 11 weeks of physical therapy. If seemed he awoke from his coma at the end of Ghost Story... so I figured he lingered a couple more weeks before Mab's Physical theraphy started giving him 4 months...so between Changes and Cold Days less than a year. Although Cold Days ends on Oct 31st or rather Nov 1st after dawn, it starts before that...about 11 weeks prior.

What indicates Changes takes place in October, I don't recall a date being given? Is it just because the ritual needed to a certain date as well as a particular place of power closing on midnight?

A few explanations.

Margaret spend a lot of time in the nevernever so her body did not go through all those years, she was physically younger than chronologically.

Different wizards might, depending on their talent and use of magic, experience ageing differently. We have only a limited data set.

Margaret spend a lot of time with Lea, she might have been in the process of becoming something else.....
thanks...makes sense

It specifically says "February" elsewhere in the book, alas.

And Maggie was over a hundred when her boys were born.
Thanks for the info.

Let's see if I understand the timeline between Changes and Skin Games.

GS happend 6 months after Changes. Then Cold Days happend 3 months after that.
So if Cold Days happened at the end of October, going backwords, Ghost Story happened somewhere at the end of July and Changes near the end of February all in the same year???

Going forward from Cold Days. Harry hasn't seen Molly in more than a year and its February in Chicago (although someone is confused about what weather is like in Chicago area in February) ....so Skin Games is about a year and 4 months later.

Also, if Magaret Gwendolyn LeFae was about 100 when she had her kids....isn't that a bit of a stretch.... I understood wizards live along time but they still age and get older...at least in looks.....is this a conundrum or is it that in wizard biology...turning 100 is like mortals turning 30.

I don't think there is enough information to get that specific.
So sometime after Eb reached maturity and possibly a score of years before Thomas was born

And Cold Days is all about how Halloween is the big day where creatures of the Nevernever come out and play.

good point in that Halloween is a time when NN creatures come out to play and potentially to strengthen themselves.  But many NN creatures cross over anytime they want...doesn't have to be Halloween. And I got the impression the Hunt runs around in the NN whenever...not just Halloween.

If the Hunt doesn't need to be summoned to earth why does the Erlking say to Harry at the end of DB

Quote
Called you forth a mighty hunter tonight. One that has NOT walked this earth since time gone and forgotten. ...... because you pleased me with the calling of the old hunter, this night you may go free.

9
No, the Hunt just tends to go wherever it wants. It only had to be summoned to Chicago specifically in Dead Beat.
sorry, but that makes no sense... I agree it might go where ever it's led in the NN.... but DB is all about how the Hunt works in the Dresden verse. There hasn't been a hunt every Halloween on Earth. Why would only Chicago require summoning.

10
i thought the wild hunt had to be SUMMONED or some such? wasn't that the point of peabodies book? an doesn't have to be halloween? :( sorry my collection is incomplete or i'd research it myself.

I got that impression too. For the Hunt to reach earth the one to lead it had to be summoned.  I assumed whoever summoned the outsiders also summoned the Hunt.  Or had someone else summon it.....probably Ace.     Also it is taking place on Halloween....remember Molly gave Harry his coat as a bday present.

DF Books / Re: Did you discover the books because of the TV Show?

None of the above selections.  I heard about the books and read them first. Learned about the tv series about the same time it was cancelled. I could not imagine how they could succeed in turning this series into a tv show...there is just too much there.

I heard about the books from a hardboiled detective novel bookworm that I encountered on a different tv show chat forum. When that series ended those fans remaining talked mostly about books.

Maybe Kincaid got her the inside line on getting the good stuff rather than the civilian versions of stuff like this, so she wouldn't have had trouble replacing it her own self.

Wellll, no maybe about it. ;)

although she could/would replace it herself...unlikely she'd redo the engraving. She's a practical girl. I will pretend JB intended to tells us how Harry found it for her shortly after....but the editors deleted that part out of a story..  :-X

13
- Murphy's P90 that fell into the lake gets found.
I always thought she just got a new one.  Does it still have the engraved plate?
-
It's the same P90 that Kincaid gave her in a box of chocolates...engraved plate and all.  Its a little thing, but it bugs me everytime Murph uses that gun after Small Favor when she dropped it into the lake after Tessa lashes out at her.

I wish I knew how she got it back. In one short story, Harry talks about getting paid for finding something lost in the lake.  It wasn't Murphy's gun, but I keep hoping for a line in some short story or book that explains how Murph got her P90 back....perhaps Harry found it for her since he's good at locating things.

It's probably just something that got lost in all the writing and editing...but I still wish Jim would give an explanation....it'd be kinda of cute...even though Harry was jealous of Kincaid he still found Murphy's P90 back out of the lake for her.

IIRC according to Bob it's because first impressions tend to stick.

Makes sense.... Harry's Bob was able to override his 'evil' part that was influenced by Kemmler & perhaps Justin for many years. That took alot of will power.... just like Harry has had will power to keep his darker tendencies in check.

15
It's because he's a reflection of Harry at age 16.

ohhhh!   It does make more sense then... but you'd think Bob would change to be more what Harry & Butters are like now...especially since he passed from Harry to Butters then back to Harry and then back to Butters. Unless the psyche of men stay as they are at 16 and some just over ride it as they age with some common sense..     :P
