I TOTALLY SAW YOU! :-)

Oh, dear lord, more witnesses.  I swear, half the con directors showed up to stare at me too.

They do try to do their best.  The Fire Marshall was coming down hard on the con this year.  Even riding the elevators kicking people off.  It was nuts.  There was also a fire on one of the upper floors of the Hilton today.

Luckily, since so many turned out, next time Jim turns up they will try to accommodate more fans.  Also, realize they have to accommodate a bunch of authors in just a few days time.  Plus schedule hundreds of separate events around each other.

OHHH, the charity quilt, which Jim and Shannon signed, went for 1500 bucks.  Almost passed out again.  The charity aucation was in the room right next to Jim's panel.  Walked the line and let people know we did have some signed books up for auction.

What not to do at Con.

Give blood, pass out in the bathroom. Wander out and lie down on a bench. Be helped by a woman dressed as the Goddess Athena and a bunch of EMT's (who were all super by the way) right in the middle of one of the main walkways between hotels.  Then, get your first ambulance ride ever to the hospital.

I did set the record to be the first person to leave the con via ambulance for 2010.  Whoopie ding dong.

Oh, if you are in any of the main hotels, do catch DragonCon TV, it's great.  That's one big thing I'm gonna miss about not having a hotel room this year.

Still haven't had a chance to go over the schedule yet.

Looks like Jim is only doing the one signing.  Get in line early for it (and wave to me at the Charity booth)  The lines can be fun though.  You get to meet some great people.

I like the Bards, but it's a matter of taste.  Want to see Voltaire now too.  Lots of good musical guests.  Dragon Dance every night is good my eldest son loves that.  Look for panels on shows or subjects you are interested in and attend those.  Check with the main track room if you aren't sure and they can advise you further.

We love going to things such as Klingon Karaoke each year.  Also always catch the masquerade.  There are just so many fun things to do.  Leave time for just sitting around and watching the costumes go by as well.  Be prepared for lines for some events (good luck if you want to get into the dub your own Hentai panel, have never know anyone to manage that)

If you are there Thursday night, they are doing the Yellow Ribbon USO party, and Drum Circle.

BLOOD DRive, if you can donate, don't forget the blood drive too.

Ohh, they also always run out of programs, so hold on to yours!!!

There should be a signing schedule in the back of the program.  Haven't had a chance to look it over yet.

I still can't believe they're doing a furry party this year.  Notice they didn't ever bring this up at volunteer meetings:)

OMG, and the Bards are having a reunion concert!!!!!!

Sing with me now...
"One bottle of beer, one shot of scotch, one bottle of wine and a bourbon on the rocks.  One lassie one me right, another on the left, then I looked that muppet in the eye and said "Give me the test".....

WAHOOO, last minute miracle, and hubby and I get to attend this year.  We volunteer with the Charity events staff.  Last year the booth was right next to where the line for author signings forms.  If it's the same this year, stop by and say howdy!!!  Please, please stop by, I'd be nice to look like i actually know people.

I've been going for five years.  Words of advice.

Wear comfortable shoes.

People are generally very nice. Frankly, in five years I've never come across anyone who is a jerk, but have heard stories from others.

If you want to go to a potentially popular panel, get there, and get in line early.  They do not let you squat, but instead clear the room between each panel.  They also don't let people line up too early for panels.  They also try to do the same or similar panels on different days and times.  Check the schedule in advance.

They are doing Thursday night programming this year.

Embrace the phrase 'line party'.  Live it, love it.  There are lines for the elevator.

If you have small children with you, yes, they are occasionally more 'adult' styles of costumes' (I'm sorry, but pasties are not a costume, no matter what they claim).  Frankly, I think the kids are more fascinated by the 501St than by somebody in pasties anywho.

Working on the cover letter (picture book story).  Suddenly, I feel like throwing up.

Now, I'm not entirely inexperienced in these things.  I have sold a bit of greeting card verse.  But still, if feeling like throwing up before even mailing the thing out normal?

Couldn't sleep, so I've been working on some of my children s stories.  Have been playing with this particular little story for a while now.  Inspired by you know who, and it was always one of my childhood favorites anywho.

(forgive the typo's)

The three Billy Goats Gruff. Revisited.

Once upon a time there were three Billy Goats Gruff.  These three brothers, being very busy, had little time to spend together.

One find day, they agreed to meet for lunch in a lovely meadow on the other side of the river.  Unknown to the brothers a terrible and nasty troll had moved in under the bridge that ran across the river, claiming it as his very own.

The first of the Billy Goats Gruff to arrive was the youngest.  He started across the bridge, trip trap, trip trap.  The troll heard this as the promise of a tasty mean.   He cleverly waited until his prey was in the middle of the bridge, then sprang up, ready to pounce.

“Who dares cross my bridge” he cried, in a fearsome voice.

“Why, it is I, the youngest of the Billy Goats Gruff. I am going to yon meadow to meet my brothers”. He answered.

“Well, no one crosses my bridge” growled the troll “I am going to gobble you up”.  The troll began to grab for the poor Billy Goat.

“But wait sir” the clever little Billy interrupted “ my older brother will be following me soon, and he would be a much meatier meal for you than I would”.

The troll considered this for a moment, and being a stupid creature agreed.  “You may cross, and I will feast on your brother instead”.  With this, he slipped back down under the bridge, and the Youngest Billy Goat Gruff crossed to the meadow.

Now, not soon after the Bigger Billy Goat Gruff came to the bridge.  He spied his brother on the other side, and gleefully began to cross, stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp.  Again, just as he was at the halfway point, the troll sprang up, intent on gobbling down the Billy Goat.

“Who is this trespassing on my bridge” the troll demanded.

“It is I,” The bigger Billy Goat Gruff answered “On my way to join my brethren in yon meadow.”

“Well, NOBODY crosses my bridge.” Screamed the troll “I am going to make a feast of you..” and he began to lunge at the Bigger Billy Goat Gruff.

But the clever Billy Goat had other ideas. He put out his hoof to stop the troll “But wait good troll” he spoke in his booming voice “soon my eldest brother will come to join us.  He would make a much tastier meal for you.”

The troll considered this.  The second Billy Goat was much larger than the first. The third ought to be even greater in size.  Unwisely, he agreed, and slithered under the bridge once again.

Not much time past, when the troll heard a strange noise on his bridge.  Tip, tip, tap, tip tip, tap.  The troll was expecting the Eldest Billy Goat Gruff and did not want anything frightening him away.  He quickly jumped out from under the bridge to dispose of the interloper.  To his great surprise, he saw a third Billy Goat Gruff. But instead of being larger than the second, he was smaller than the first.  This Billy Goat worn an old robe, and the tap sound was caused by a walking stick the old Goat leaned on.

This angered the troll greatly, he had been expecting a huge and juicy meal, and instead was confronted with a stringy bony nothing.  He roared in frustration.

“Why, you’re nothing but string and bone” he bellowed.  “I have been fooled, and will use your bones to pick my teeth.”  He reached out for the Eldest of the Billy Goats.

“Good Sir” said the Goat” I have no quarrel with thee.  Stand aside so that I might join my brothers in yon meadow.”

The troll grew even angrier and bellowed again.  He reached out with his greasy clawed hands and made to grab the Billy and swallow him whole.

The Eldest Billy Goat had other plans.  He simply tapped his staff on the bridge, causing a blinding flash of light and peel of thunder.  When the light faded to normal, all that was standing on the Bridge was the frail Billy Goat Gruff and a small round donut.

The clever Billy Goat bent down and picked up the donut, then continued across the bridge to join his brothers.  Together the three spend the afternoon catching up with each other, and enjoying the lovely fresh donut the Eldest brought from the bridge.
