Per the Jim Butcher Announcement mailing list Jim is only doing a LARP event Saturday (1130A to 6P).

I'm BEYOND shocked that they have their biggest author guest not scheduled for any literary panels, signings, or even readings. Hopefully it's just a miscommunication, but I'll still be there & will bring my books just in case :)

Jim is a special guest of Con Nooga 2014!  Con Nooga is located at the Historical Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel and Chattanooga Convention Center, and will take place February 21st through 23rd.

Historical Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel
1400 Market Street
Chattanooga, TN 37402

Chattanooga Convention Center
1150 Carter St
Chattanooga, TN 37402

I saw that the Programming schedule is up, but I don't see they have an option to show which panels have which guests. Does Jim know which panels/readings/autograph sessions he'll be at????

I'm assuming he'll only be doing Literary panels.

And yippee for another Dresden fan (earthfoxfury) planning to show up!

Has the weather been an issue down there as up here in Chicagoland?  Lots of snow recently kinda put the kabosh on travel plans.  Maybe folks are waiting to see how things pan out around there.  Either way, I truly doubt that Mr. Butcher's fans in that area won't turn out.  Most likely, they are just waiting till closer to the time frame.
Good point! Seems like weather EVERYWHERE this year has been extremely rough. Down here we're not used to snow/ice events which makes things more complicated. Yes, I am a complete wimp when it comes to winter weather which is why I live in the South.

Since this is coming up in less than 2 weeks I'm surprised no one has mentioned they're going yet. This will be the first fan run con I've gone to in well over a decade that I'll be a fan & not a volunteer. I got to meet several Jim fans while waiting in the autograph line at DragonCon 2013 & look forward to meeting more at this con.

Just wanted to say "thanks" to the magnificent jeditigger who was phenomenal at getting Jim where he needed to go (and on time)!

I've been a DragonCon volunteer for 16 years & y'all should know that most of the Senior Directors are huge Jim fans (but can't ever make it to see panels so watch things on youtube later - thank you DragonConTV + fans). This was the first year that the programming committee was able to schedule multiple signings (bigger room with more room to line up) & the first year authors had a chance to do a signing longer than one panel block (90 minutes) so I was extremely grateful. Last time I tried to get into the signing but they'd cut the line off SUPER early.

It was WONDERFUL to see a full house for his solo Q&A! I believe only a few folks were turned away per the security folks outside the door, but there were literally ZERO empty seats to be seen. (There could have been random empty seats where folks didn't move all the way to the end of the row, but we did all want the panel to start on time, right?) Since I've been on staff so long I know volunteers who know hotel staff so I was thankfully able to point them to a back way to get out to avoid the massive crowd leaving/coming in at the Westin.

A bit more on the B&N Buckhead (Atlanta) event...

I picked up my copy tonight as I was heading back from a meeting... Book is 20% off & is $24.15 with tax.

Parking there could be an issue - it's right next to Publix & they really don't seem to have enough spaces for an event... + there's construction on Peachtree by Lenox Mall so pay attention to the signs & lane changes...

The line for the registers isn't very well marked if you come into the entrance by the Publix - it's to the right of the Customer Service desk.

I got conflicting information on the tickets & how they're handing them out so we'll have to see how it goes. They will have colored tickets (wristbands?) & each color is a group of 50. While you can apparently have multiple people per ticket (I asked about 3 people), each person has to have purchased Ghost Story.

I called B&N Buckhead (Atlanta, GA) today...

Tickets will be given out @ 5P.

Purchase of Ghost Story is mandatory to get something signed. (Any other purchase - even if it's by Jim - doesn't count.) I did not ask, but I assume that 1 Ghost Story = 1 ticket.

Purchase must be made @ the Buckhead location.

# of books/items Jim will sign is up to Jim

Q&A (or not) is completely up to Jim (they do have a microphone for him to use if he chooses).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, folks, but Jim doesn't want me to post the video of the reading until Februaryish, when the text sample chapters go up for Ghost Story.  He was reading from the pre-beta draft, and he doesn't know what's going to change yet.  He doesn't want a conflicting version of the text in the public eye.
So, to be clear, they WILL be posted for the GS countdown Feb/Mar 2011 even though they're pre-beta? I can wait (dammit)...

PS: I realize I never post, but I registered in 2007 & I've been reading (and re-reading) Jim's stuff since Storm Front was released in my bookstore as I bought it the first week we received it in house...
