Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Where would YOU like Jim to appear?

If possible it'd be really coold to see Mr. Butcher in the Washington D.C. area.

You can add me to the con list as a maybe. As it stands I don't work that weekend but there is alsoa  50/50 chance that my only other coworker is getting terminated so I may end up working every weekend until they find a replacement.

Anyone but us have geek-crossover tendencies? We'll be at the Maryland Renaissance Festival the third week of September and the third weekend in October we'll be doing the Zombie Run in Baltimore...

My wife is planning a trip or three to the Ren Fair this year. Possibly in the 3rd week of sept as well but it all really depends on work.

David Tennant...I'm unfamiliar with that actor...  ;D

As far as acting is concerned, I think he would make a phenomenal Harry, but unfortunately, he can't pull off the physicality of the role, I don't think.

I didn't think he could either but some of the previews for Fright Night it may be possible.

DF Books / Re: Shirt Quotes: Buy Dresden Stuff!
« on: August 03, 2011, 10:55:58 PM »
Same here. I have some T-shirt transfers and am going to try making my own, but I am even having a hard time finding plain old cotton T-shirts (or 50/50 cotton/polyester) in my size. I believe you can use vinyl letters from a company called Cricut, but you have to have a special machine.

I could possibly make you a shirt if mine comes out successfully. Would you be interested?

I'd definitely be interested, let me know how it comes out.

And we demand a Dresden Collectable Action Figure with a Bob the Skull alarm clock with sexually suggestive phrases!!!

I'd love to see a lot of these quotes on shirts. I wish I could find a place around here that prints off stuff for shirts since I'm a bigger guy and I'd totally love to wear a Dresden Shirt. Also, I know I'm a bit juvenile, but are there any talks in toys? because my transformers Darth Vader, Vash the Stampede, and Sephiroth figures wouldn't mind having certain Wizard standing next to them above my T.V.

Awesome time tonight at the signing. Its funny, for my first bok signing experience it was not at all like I expected. I had a great time though. Like I said there, the pony is awesome. Thanks for the experience everyone.

Here are some of my choices (I may be horribly wrong on some of them but its my head and it pictures what it wants)

Harry: David Tennant (Have you seen him in fright nights previews?)
Murphy: Kirsten Nelson
Michael: I picture Joe Manganiello but I am not 100% here. If you mixed him with Sean Bean it'd be perfect
Marcone: I may be off my rocker but Ralph Fiennes
Butters: Neil Grayston
Billy: Shawn Ashmore
Mac: I saw it mentioned on here and now I completely picture Adam Baldwin with some make up and a bald cap.
Captain Nicklehead: Has to be Gary Oldman, I saw that on here and was like "YES, that is what I see in my head already"
Ebeneazer McCoy: John Mahoney
Thomas: I have no clue, I kind of comic book characters when It hink of the Raithes in my head so good luck with that.
Mouse: A Lion you've dyed and taught how to bark.
Molly: Maybe a blonde Addison Timlin?

Anyway just some guesses I am sure if I wasn't so lasy I would have read all 277 pages and seen some better suggestions.

Calendar Event Discussion / Re: Jim's 2011 Signing Tour (CONFIRMED!)

8/1, McLean, VA at Tyson’s Corner: A recent B&N receipt for any of Jim Butcher’s books is required to join the signing line. Passes handed out at 5pm.
Well I guess its a good thing they aren't specifying which book in case they run out of Ghost Story you can purchase any of them.

Here's the pony pictures! http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v230/lizstaley/Custom%20Ponies/Dresden%20and%20Bob/ Looking forward to letting these handsome guys get out of the house tomorrow!

I may lose some manpoints for saying this since its my little pony but that is wicked.

Thank you, and hopefully I get out of work on time. According to wmata (washington D.C.s transit website which anyone whos wants to take the metro can use and get decent enough directions) as long as I get out of work on time I should get tehre by 4:30 but with the metro who knows.

Just spoke with someone from the B&N, apparently there's some changes to the event, but this is his latest information:
First, to answer my questions above...

There WILL be a Q&A session held before the signing.
You will need a wrist band to get into the Q&A.

Here's a rough time line:
5:00 Wrist Band passed out
This is your "Ticket," It will say Block 1, Block 2, etc.  This tells them what order you'll get signed.
7:00 Q&A to start FOLLOWED by signing.
Signing will last until everyone is happy or Jim says its time to go. Jim's usual 3 item limit will be enforced.

In regards to buying the book from B&N.  The gentleman I spoke with said that their official policy is that you have to buy the "Featured" book from any B&N or B&N online.

You can get up to 3 items signed, usually the featured book and 2 other items. Unofficially, they've been known to not check your receipt.  I'm not risking it since your wrist band is your "ticket" to the Q&A and without a B&N copy of Ghost Story, you aren't guaranteed a wrist band.

So, don't mind me if this is a dumb question I've never been to a book signing but seeing as Jim Butcher is my favorite author I am going to take two busses and the metro to make sure I'm there, does this mean that if you arrive at 7 or after 5 you may not get your book signed?
