You're right, I misquoted the passage. He hasn't admitted to it, but outright stated he has license to. Which, ultimately, still supports either theory.

After re-reading Blood Rites in anticipation of Cold Days, I've run across something that triggered a recall of a discussion in this thread.

It's been hypothesized that future Harry comes back and fixes LC. This would seem to be in opposition to the Laws of Magic, as going against the flow of time is forbidden.

However, there is a loophole. Ebenezar openly admits, in his confession of being the Blackstaff, that he has, with impunity, violated every law of magic, including the flow of time.

Now, this lends to one of two theories, if we are still to consider a time traveler fixes LC and does so legally.
One. Ebenezar fixes LC.
Two. Harry inherits the mantle of Blackstaff and fixes it himself.

1) I would love to see Lea forced to tag along. It would up the ante as to the "heavy" they had to face and how much Power would be required to take him/her/it down.

2a) I'm going long-odds and saying Ramirez. Will be the Emissary from the White Council at Mab's party.
2b) "I was only mostly dead, not all dead. There's a difference."
2c) Butters: "Polka really DOESN'T die!!!"
2d) Maggie. I feel like the Carpenters are going to have told her all about her father, and when she sees him, it'll be a true "first" meeting.

3) The rifle on the cover, which will be a tribute to Sir Soandso (forgot his name) from GS and will be his new weapon against spiritual entities. It would come in handy against battling the souls Harry will encounter when Mab orders Harry to assassinate

4) Uriel. Mab is furious that he reminded Harry of his free will and that he doesn't have to compromise his morals, and wishes to exact her revenge.

5) Obviously Harry will not assassinate Uriel and will choose to defy Mab, so the majority of the book will be spent finding a loophole while keeping up appearances.

6) the encounter with Fix will be anticlimactic. They'll acknowledge each other, but Harry will have no reason to mix with Summer forces and thusly will largely be avoided.

7) We will find out who was responsible for the security breach at Arcangel.

8) We will find out what exists on the NeverNever side of Demonreach.

9) Lash will make a limited appearance.

Im pretty sure that was in the church in Changes

I could be confusing books. Regardless of when it happened, I hated Jim until I read far enough into the next chapter to realize it was a fakeout Butters had been prepared for.

For me, the one moment in the series that I had to flip back and read four times to make sure I hadn't read it wrong was where Jim killed Butters off in the morgue in Dead Beat and then revealed he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

I hated him for 10 minutes, thinking he'd killed off one of my favorite characters in two nonchalant paragraphs, and couldn't continue reading right away.

Collection of disparate facts from the sample chapters...

  • Everyone in Chicagatory is in the prime of their life with no scars (well at least the 3 we know)
  • The cars are vintage
  • What Harry is percieving is being censored
  • There's an angel garding the door to the "precinct"
  • Somebody cheated when Harry was killed
  • 3 people Harry loves will be harmed if he doesn't solve who killed him
  • Harry is asked to write down a specific address to go to rather than to say something like "Mort's House"
  • Harry is limited in what he can influence on the living plane, and has no magic
  • Mindless specters want to eat Harry's ghost
  • Memories can be used as a weapon on these Specters
  • Harry was taken to Mort's old address, not the Duplex in DB
  • Harry had forgoten that he had already seen Mort with a bicked head
  • Mort stopped to take the time to grab a single Oreo before locking Harry out of his bedroom
  • There is 1.5 feet of snow outside
  • From Harry's perspective about an hour has gone by since he died, yet 6 months have passed

One you might be missing... are we certain that ghosts are capable of issuing invitations over threshholds?
Could Harry's mind/subconscious/imagination be compensating for his expectations of needing an invitation?
