I'll ask him tomorrow afternoon and post his answer here for you.  That way everyone will be clear unless someone else already has this answer. :)

Since it appears my post caused some confusion -- which I don't know why, it doesn't use the plural book(s) anywhere haha -- you can bring all of your books in suitcases for Jim to sign and that's perfectly fine.  Just be sure to support the bookstore by either buying the new book there or buy some other book you've been wanting.  The bookstore puts a lot of time and energy into making these events possible and we should support them with a purchase or two for that time and energy.

That's all. :)

Here's the low down on University Bookstore:

There will be enough parking.  It's not that bad come 6:30 at night on a week day.  They give you a ticket that you bring into the store with you.  If you can, do not buy your book early and bring it with you; buy the book at the bookstore.  If you do that, your time at the event will be covered and you won't pay a dime for parking as they will stamp your parking ticket.  Plus, it's just a courtesy to buy your book at the store that is hosting the event, in my opinion.

I think this will be one of Duane's larger events, so get there early if you can.  Duane is the head of science fiction/fantasy at the U Bookstore, and he always puts on a good show.  To get an autograph, it costs nothing.  But like I said, please buy your book at their store -- if a bookstore doesn't show good sales of an event book, the publisher may cut back an author's tour next time.  We don't want that to happen with Jim. :)

If you have any other questions about the U Bookstore event, just ask.  I live two miles from it and go there for most events.

I'll be the bald man with the Mac Powerbook recording Jim's event in Seattle. :)  I'm happy so many of you will be there!

After Jim signs or personalizes the books some of you have ordered from The Signed Page, I plan on going to his event here in Seattle, recording it with my webcam, and placing it on the website for you guys to watch and listen to.  :)  Although that is a very small consolation to actually being in Jim's presence, at least it is something, right? :)

New Event Added -- Online!

Hi All,

I usually let the officials on a website deal with this kind of news post -- undoubtedly of which some of you will call spam but has very good intentions for some -- but due to the shortened ordering period it must go up now for all to see.

My name is Shawn and I am the owner of The Signed Page, a website devoted to bringing signed or personalized books to those fans who can't meet with their favorite writers.  A writer can only tour so many cities -- as some of you noticed when Jim's tour was posted -- leaving many fans the inability to get a signed or personalized book for cover price.  The Signed Page helps bridge that gap a bit.

This morning, Jim's publicist contacted me about having him sign for The Signed Page.  The good news is Jim will sign and personalize copies of White Night; the bad news is he will be doing so in 8 days on April 3rd, which is far too short a time to effectively publicize this to all fans who might be interested.  At any rate, we are going to do the best we can to give Jim something to do while he is here in Seattle.  Smiley

In short, spread the word about this to anyone you think would take advantage of it.

Feel free to visit the website at http://www.signedpage.com.  Many questions can be answered there but I'll respond via email as soon as possible too to any questions posed.

Hope you all are great!

Shawn
