I am almost sure that by the time Jim got his publishing deal he had written 3 of The Dresden Files books, It's what made them sign him if I remember correctly.

Surely if your in the mood to write another book you should just go with it.

Very good. No release information on Captain's Fury yet?

I'm expecting it'll be "same time next year", but I don't have an *official* confirmation of that yet.

And there's me hoping it would be this year :o.

Runs and hides ;D.

I've been resistant to going back to the only-forum-supplied-avatars thing for a few reasons:

1) I'm very slow about updating the avatar supply.
2) It seemed like a nice perk to give our regular forum folks (post often enough, get yourself a visual signature)
3) I hate taking away privileges that I've given -- and, while this one was something I sorta "accidentally" left enabled, I'm a firm believer that I should eat my own mistakes. :)

The reason I like individual avatars is I can recognise people quicker than if I had to read thier names. Yep it's just me being lazy.

lol No, I'm from England (Dont' hate me, I'm a quater Welsh lol). What I meant about not being a kid, but not being an adult is that kids think of you as old, and people who're older think of you as a kid. Like, when you're seven, you know everyone is going to think og you as "young" and when you're 27 people will thinkof you as an adult. You're pretty much thought of as a kidall through your teens, but when you hit 21, you're not quite either. It's a transition age. It's a weird age. I wish I was seven. Things were SWEET when I was seven lol.

Unless you play for thier rugby team then all is okay ;D.

What freaks me and most of my friends of the same age 22-23 is that some of our parents were married and had us or our older siblings at that age. I do understand what you mean early 20's is wierd you are no longer a teen so can't get away with much crap and not quite ready to settle down (well most aren't) but you have to start taking more adultish responsibilities.

I also find it wierd that a couple of my friends are now teachers and some are training to be teachers, my best mate is Mr King which I know he is going to have great fun with lol.

I agree with Iago never react badly to criticism or bad reviews. At the end of the day they went out the way to take time to read or watch your piece of work. Also remember you will not get everyone to like your work, some people will like it, some will hate and others will be indifferent towards it.

And then I read your second post and realized you are likely young enough your mother might be thinking she's doing you a favor...saving you from years of disappointment and possibly ultimate failure...better to be a doctor, or a lawyer!   ::)

Paige; I'm 21, younger than many, older than some. It's a pain of an age when you're not a kid but you're not "really" an adult lol.

From your reply to Paige I presume you are from America and this is what really shocked me when I visited several years ago and to my amazement I was treated as a child at the age of 19. Being from Wales and being treated as an adulted for the best part of 2 years it was a real shock. I knew the drinking age was 21 but didn't realise that you are not an adult until then.

Unfortunately, the calendar stuff's been in transition.  Shannon's more on top of what events are, but she doesn't have the ability to edit the contents of that sidebar due to... um, oogy technical issues.

Currently under consideration is replacing that sidebar with a simple link to a bulletin board on these forums, which Shannon could just post things to.  It'd have the disadvantage that the threads wouldn't be sorted by the date of the event, but I think the convenience factor may overcome that.

Google Calendar maybe a consideration for you.

The whole kit and kaboodle. I suck at coding, so while I can run it and use GUI configuration tools, I can't host or set up the software.

Or, again, we could just run with Invision.

Well as for the server space and domain name I can ask my mate who runs a hosting company what deal he can do us. Tell me if you want me to ask him.

which book was that?

Case in point is my thread on worst book in Mac's. The book I said had no mortal danager for the protagonist but the situation the author had put him in didn't really make me connect with the story or the main charactor.

The one thing that I don't like in any multiple book series is that even though the protagonist maybe in the worst danger imaginable by the author you know 99% unless it's the last book in the series that he or she will not die. Some how the protagonist will get out of the peril they are in.

I had the same feeling when Harry was going to Artis Tor thinking 'oh he is going to somehow manage to save Molly from Mab's winter strong hold' but was gladly surprised with the twist.

So a protagonist that cannot die is certainly interesting, but like the ubove post whatever interupts the equilibrium of his or her world we must feel for his situation. Case in point is my thread on worst book in Mac's. The book I said had no mortal danager for the protagonist but the situation the author had put him in didn't really make me connect with the story or the main charactor.
