DF Reference Collection / Re: Who Attacked Arctis Tor, and Why
« on: February 15, 2015, 05:30:09 PM »
I don't think so, I think Mab figured it out once she figured out that the knife was infected.  She treated Lea, and I believe treated herself as well, Maeve she couldn't do much about until she got a new Winter Knight.

I think she could, just didn't want to. Maeve was her daughter after all.

Edit: Now that I think about it Lea infecting Maeve and then regretting it should fit the bill too. Then again I think it would fit quite nicely if Lea was atleat in part responsible for what happened  @ AT. And while Maeve could have been the one planning the attack on AT, I find it extremely unlikely Maeve wouldn't have taunted Mab about it during the confortation at the end of CD.

Except I think nemesis attacked to stop Lea from telling Mab about Maeves infection. Protecting that cover is the only reason for attacking arctis tor that makes sense to me.

For some reason Nemesis control of Lea was weakened and Lea ran to Mab, maybe Nemesis can control a limited number of people directly and it got overextended.

Or Lea's sense of self was just very strong, much stronger than Cat Sith.

Somehow it seems odd that Nemesis would arrange a huge attack on AT just to prevent a single message from reaching Mab. How would that even work? Lea standing outside AT and seeing massive army between her and the gate is unable to deliver a the information to Mab? Somehow that doesn't sound reasonable at all.

So I think Lea was wrestling with the infection and tried to overcome it unaided but realised that was impossible and went to Mab for aid.

I suspect Lea made things she shouldn't have before Mab froze her in the garden. It's possible she aided assault on AT and realized it was a mistake, and turned herself in afterwards. Who knows.

Look at it like this, if only thing Lea being infected accomplished was infection spreading to Maeve it's almost lame. Lea is much more central figure to winter than Maeve. She is the one in control of forces at the outer gate 50% of the time.

The way I understood PG is that Lea had been infected by Nemesis, but rather than total control it made her go against her nature and due it she rebelled against her queen in order to gain more power for herself. Lea's rebellion then resulted in a huge attack aimed at the very heart of winter. In the end Mab triumphed and captured Lea and found out Lea was strong enough to resist Nemesis with help, so she made a Leacicle Harry finds during PG.

Why attack on AT? Because Lea wanted to take out Mab. And because outsiders want Mab to be removed.
Who attacked AT? Outsiders, Faeries and Mortals under Lea's command and odd bunch of Black Hats crazy enough to attack Mab.

They seem to be up now.

Thanks for uploading them Pris!

As I said before, if traveling back in time was not possible for mortals, there wouldn't be a law against swimming against the currents of time. I am not saying Harry can go back to meet Sue while she was still alive. But some form of TT to the past must be possible. Jim simply wouldn't make a law of magic that is irrelevant.

I don't think Merlin travelled back in time to build the prison again. It's possible though. I got the feeling Merlin simply built it in every dimension at the same time. How does that work? Magic! It just seems cooler than him building DR once, then getting a cup of tea and some food, then traveling back in time to do it again, and repeating that for like 12 times.

I think most obvious thing to suggest that it's possible to travel trough time even as a mortal is in the laws of magic. If it's impossible unless you are a god, and a strong one at that, the law is meaningless. Something I don't think it is.

Didn't read trough the whole thread so sorry if this was addressed earlier, but the CD energy response was Demonreach chargin in order to use Banefire. It was simply doing it ahead of time cause it was able to sense the incoming attack that would occur in the future.

DF Spoilers / Re: Request help for finding recent topics here!

Hi! What I am looking for is a topic that handles the fact that Outsiders are eveything that come from beyond the border of faerie.
According to Harry NN is friggin massive and faerie is only the part closest to mortal world, it stands to reason most of the NN is considered to be outside. There most likely is a topic about this somewhere. Halp?

There have been tons of topics about Mother Summer's and Mother Winter's names, but has any1 seen a topic where they have included the snake and the hawk that appear in mantles of the ladies in the discussion?

That seemed more like Ivy rebelling against the Archive.

Yeah it did. Ivy being a player even on her own is pretty cool, but she might be quite restricted on how much she is able to act. With help from Nemesis she might be able to actually kick some major ass. So here goes hoping that one more young damsel is in trouble and that next time we see her she has grown to be hot, 19 years old superpower with free will, and a huge dilemma with a evil parasite she needs help with.

It's impossible to know. But they had her imprisoned for a short time and she helped Harry in Changes.

Yes, and thus going against her nature ; )

Do we know that Ivy was not infected? I mean she did hint to Harry right way in Changes, breaking neutrality just a bit. Slowly being corrupted and granting Ivy ability to take active role in matters of great importance. (Going against her nature of staying neutral)

I think this makes a nice pairing with Nic in DB.

"You don't want to see what you are,--  You are lying to yourself.  You pretend to be like any other mortal because you are too terrified to admit that you aren't."

I know this is not place for discussion, but if you want to link those two together, feel free : )

DF Reference Collection / Re: [CD spoilers] Cowl = Simon reference thread

Lets keep Molly Mab discussions to those 10 theads made about that already.  ;D

One thing that jumps to mind is that Cowl uses gloves. Might be that his hands have scars like his arms do and he is using gloves to cover them up. (He revealed the scars in his arms only when he was already assured of his ascension to godhood)

My point being, do we know any other characters that have been mentioned to use gloves. Like any wizard, warden, denarian... anything?

Is it possible Cowl is a wizard we've never even learned anything about yet?

Possible, but quite unlikely. Jim himself has said he does his best to foreshadow things, and having Cowl is TAN DAN TAAA *insert name* moment is one of those things that seem likely to happen.

Having "Cowl removed his hood and he was... generic WC member number 199 i'd seen once in a meeting but had never even mentioned on page" just doesn't cut it.

Hmm! I have a new pet theory that is like 100% sure to happen. Cowl is Malcolm Dresden.

  - In-universe: the nomination to SC is in fact the result of a political struggle behind the scenes, and the seniority list thing is just for show. So there may be a hundred wizards older than McCoy, but none of them had the magical/political power to challenge him for the seat.

Wasnt going to be a Merlins puppet that was going to get in SC and wasn't it engineered by Merlin that every older member was gone due trivial reasons. Either due Merlin giving them some tasks, or simply due Merlin asking them to stay away.

Most wizards probably aren't suited for combat, but there should be several capable of heavy combat duty within those wizards, even if rest of the Council wouldn't know about it. Cowl might be one of the senior members that hasn't stepped up to be SC member or so.

we know that Cowl is a human SC-level wizard, so the list of suspect is very short:
  • Langtry
  • Rashid
  • Eb
  • Lafortier
  • Mai
  • Martha
  • LTW
  • Simon Petrovich
  • Klaus Schneider (the Toymaker)

During Dead Beat the SC was fighting the Reds. So we have two possibilities: Simon or Klaus.

You perople are underestimating the WC. Remember Ebaneezer was way down the line, and that there were loads of different names, every1 absent before they got down in the list down to him when he entered the SC. So there are loads of wizards of SC level out there that simply haven't entered SC due politics.

(Or am I completely wrong here?)
