DFRPG / Breaking down Thresholds.
« on: July 18, 2011, 12:02:28 PM »
We were having a discussion last night during game about thresholds. My personal theory on the one in question was this... It USED to be a family home. The kids have grown and left, the parents are barely ever home. They are violently murdered in their home. BY a demon that was summoned from inside. I believe that because the threshold had been becoming weaker already, that the violence and loss of the last connecting member - the threshold would be complete ruined. Maybe the resonance of it remains, but it wouldn't have any power.

One of my players thinks that because it was a family home, that threshold would still be up and strong, keeping all OTHER powers from entering.

Comments? Suggestions?

I guess it's more of a debate. I don't think they would be unrecognizable changed, but my boyfriend thinks that so much time in the nevernever would fundamentally change them so they're not really human.

I have a question about the effects the nevernever would have on mortals over an extended period of time. Say there is a small pocket of mortals with wizards constitution. They have been exiled to an island in the nevernever for about 100 generations, without crossing through the way at any point.

After all this time living in the nevernever, would the mortals have been altered or evolved in any way do you think?

You umm... missed a rather important detail.  Namely, that undertown is the site for the chatroom, not an in game location.
LoL Like I said, I was being dragged away from the computer before I could read the whole thing but had already been told I should make a comment.

Technically Miami couldn't have an undertown. Beneath Miami is sand and water... it's nothing but sinkholes. I know, I live in FL and my fiance was born in Miami. The whole idea of the Chicago undertown was the fact that there really is an area beneath Chicago because of the way it was built. This might have been mentioned somewhere but I'm being pulled away from the computer and didn't have time to read everything. Sorry.

I've actually recorded our last three sessions of game so I can go back and write a story out of the game. We're kind of all over the place but I think that's what you get when there's a large group of ADHD friends together. Ours would PROBABLY be tough for people to follow.

At the moment I'm playing a wereform but I have a wizard layed out in my head for my next character. She's a musician and plays acoustic at different dive bars. For some reason she never gets invited back to the same one twice... something about their equipment always having to be replaced...  ;)
