I like it - in the 'for what it's worth' category.

"...sounds too easy..."

Really?  There are THREE of them in the WORLD.  To easy....

I disagree with "too easy" -- but I do agree that they would satisfy the catch (of anything)...

I do not see how a RCV could be a Knight of the Cross.  Not in the Dresenverse.  No question there - it seems pretty clear.  The Knights serve the White God.

What you have described might best be played out as One Sponsor of Magic and One Item of Power.

AD&D - leaving 3.5 for 4...which sucks (imho).

How about a Yule Tide Knight...  Santa's Knight.  Like the Knight of Summer or Winter, but for Santa.  How would you stat him?  Assume a pretty powerful version, been around a while.  He does what Santa needs doing.  Thanks.

So is there anywhere /any time - that Jim has said how many Fae Courts actually exist, or could exist?

9
Why?

Why does the Knight need to be resistant to iron?  Would you have your knight out picking up iron out of the never never?  I don't see a reason why that couldn't be a catch.  In fact, with the Wlyd court - I think it's very appropriate.

A question was asked, and not answered -- the 'catch' for the "Goblin Knight?"

What about plain old "IRON" -- it would seem to me that the Wyld Court is very Fae, meaning the Fae in extreme.  If I were running the game I'd use Iron as the 'catch' - it seems very appropriate - as it is very foreign in the woods.  Not sure, but it seems to fit.  Just my 2 cents worth.

DFRPG / Refresh level of the Powers
« on: March 25, 2011, 05:37:05 PM »
In the books so far we have Valkyries and Odin.  Now I have to assume (but correct me if I'm wrong) that a Valkyrie should be about equal in Refresh to a senior council member.  Odin should be very much beyond any mortal refresh, so what might that look like?  I know - Plot Level Device.  I was just wondering what you all might be thinking though -- and his powers would be beyond what is listed.  Thoughts?

So we have the Norse Myths represented in the books - what about the Greek or Egyptian myths?  Finally - if the "gods" have a refresh equal to Odin's level (roughly) - what would the elder gods (Titans) look like, refresh wise?

I'm thinking about starting a campaign where there is an on-going thread of a necromancer that keeps trying to free a Titan in order to cause the destruction of the world - or at least a lot of people dead (which he could then control).

Any thoughts would be great.  Thanks in advance.

DFRPG / Re: Overpowered characters- Is it ever ok?
« on: March 21, 2011, 04:02:57 PM »
Yes having an "overpowered" character is ok.

It is your game - and if everyone in your group is good with it -- then heck yes that's ok.

As stated above - the point is to have fun -- both as a GM and as Role-player.

Your game - your rules -- think of the books as helpful guide posts.

Refresh 10, 20, 30, 40 ....  whatever makes you and your group have fun.

Sure it could "break the system" - but have fun with it --- "adjust" your system.

Maybe in your game 'monster X' has a +10 refresh from whatever is in the books...

But the core rule -- have fun -- or else people stop playing in your group.

DFRPG / Re: Giving teeth to enforcement of The Laws
« on: March 02, 2011, 02:51:10 PM »
While I may agree with most of the comments, I think they are missing the point of the post (somewhat).  Apparently the "poster" is asking HOW to give teeth to "The Laws."  How to keep wizards in check.  Perhaps someone cares to answer that question more directly, because I've seen the same thing.  A wizard in combat, that absolutely decides what his spells do, is pretty tough to deal with.  Not take out, but even to give a tough challenge.  Of course the whole game is aimed at wizards, but that's besides the point.

The White Council's laws do not apply to him.  Lord Raith is not even human.  End of story.
