I like this item, not because of what it is. It is truly scary. But if this flies in this game, imagine what else the GM is going to let in to balance that monstrosity. Here is my chainsaw of @$$K.

Everyone he interacts with, from the barista that gives him coffee to the bad guys that try to kill him. Think people are leery of him because he does not make eye contact. Just wait until this hits. I have an npc who has cassandra's tears, he uses it in a tactical capacity. Try sneaking up on a guy who can see a few seconds into the future.

That is what I was debating. But time travel can get unwieldy. But, it can also be a lot of fun.

It is like throwing a rock in the pond, the ripples get there eventually. He is a very big rock in some cases. The biggest waves made by his premature, artificially cuased death. Someone, or something broke law 6 to remove him from the field. What happens next?

Big fan of quatum leap, sue me.

It is the spear of destiny.  Odin was not the nicest god. Two of his other names were bulverk and vargr( evil-do'er and wolf or criminal, respectively) Below is something that might help balance such a powerful item. Let me know what you think.

The wielder is doomed to know the fate of all around him while it is in his possession. Good bad and ugly, the end of all he loves and hates he and he alone knows. Treat it like a long range cassandra's tears. Put a catch on the weapon that if he speaks of it, the spear either leaves or kills him. A whole new range of story can come from him trying to change fate. If he can.

I fixed the title, sorry about that. Someone needs to teach me how to do the cool invisible text thing at some point.

I have found that some worlds( game and literary alike) sometimes are easier to work in when the title or titular character are not involved. Doctor Who is a good example at times. Very easy to abuse a 1000 year old alien with a sonic mcguffin.  And where as Killing him seems harsh, heroes fall so that heroes may rise.

DFRPG / Re: How would a healing power work?

There are mentions of Biomancy in the book, it sounds like that is a good start. Putting things back together is never as simple as it was to sunder them. The only times you see instant healing is an innate ability( vampires using blood to heal) or when a higher being( angel, fae etc) does it. If you are going to go down the road, it should be thaumaturgical. The necessity of a sacrifice( burning a copy of Grey's anatomy. book not tv show) or something more tangible should not be ruled out either.

2. Harry is killed on the island at the end of TC. Whether it was Shag or something else not sure. Due to his premature death, the shield that Molly put up gets detonated by an impatient Ancient Mai. It kills her(MAi) and cripples both Listens to Wind and McCoy. Needless to say, within a year the White council has lost the war and the laws of magic are no longer enforced. A very bleak point to start at, but with no laws comes the freedom to try and change things..........

4. The TV show world. Probably the hardest one, since there is only 1 season to work with. But some of the changes were good. One of my players suggested it, so have been working with it  a bit

DFRPG / Has anyone killed Harry?
« on: June 01, 2010, 06:45:57 PM »
In one to the RPG books they mention Killing him off and moving forward from that. Has any of the Gm" out there given it any thought or done it. Giving it strong consideration, want to move my game in a little different direction. Thoughts and comments are welcome and wanted.
