Worst case attack: you roll a -4 for defense, and the other guy rolls +4 to attack.
He hits with ten shifts, plus two for weapon rating, for a 12 stress hit.  If you have block six up, that's a mere five stress hit.  If you've got block eight up, it's a three stress hit.

Ah, I see.  This is still wrong then.  The block 6 would leak a 7 stress hit (4 + 2 weapon), and the block 8 would leak a 4 stress hit (2 + 2 weapon) according to the example.  Is this correct?

...emphasis mine...

Is this correct?  I thought that a block either cancelled a hit or not?

Don't really understand why you need a list for these.  I wouldn't think it would be difficult to just make it up on the spot, based upon the narration of what is happening in the scene.

Just got done reading a book called Snake Agent (it was alright, not ground breaking, save for the traditional chinese background) where the main character is on the outs with his patron diety, who's only charge to him for protection and favor was "be immaculate in all of your dealings."

Thought it was interesting.  Tough agenda for a mortal.

DFRPG / Re: That music is evil... Story idea that needs some refinement

The Cassandra's Tears angle might work, but if you want to go a different route (for fear that the players might too easily think that someone in or attached to the band has oracular abilities), why not play with the idea that it is not the lyrics that make the song come true, but a certain type of music, say snippets of the Song of Creation (pick your mythos) that have been written into the music that make the lyrics come true.

Just a thought.

I'm sorry, its just when you someone is better then Butcher that is what got me.

I can accept near as good, or even equal to Butcher.

But no one, absolutely no one, out does him in his chosen field.

Actually never said she was better than JB...try reading posts before you bash them.  Readers are leaders...

Okay, glad I tried to broaden everyone's mind a little...I'll shut up now since I am obviously not worth your time.

And Butcher is A god...but there are many...

P.S. -- way to run off potential gamers/readers...bet JB loves that, as do the makers of DFRPG...

If you haven't yet, I highly suggest everyone read A Madness of Angels and The Midnight Mayor, the only books in the Matthew Swift series by Kate Griffin.  They are a fun read, and I have to say, though I love Butcher and the Dresden Files, the magic use in Griffin's universe is brilliant and more to my tastes, and would be easy to simulate using the Fate system.  Even if you don't play in her world, I think you'll be surprised how much information there is to mine from these books, particularly if you are going to play in and around London, or really any other large city.

Seriously, check them out...you won't be disappointed.

I've downloaded it and checked it out, but I have to say, I think I'm going the dead tree route (in the form of a nice leather bound journal) for all of my DFRPG notes...

DFRPG / Re: Aspects and Tagging
« on: May 27, 2010, 02:06:16 AM »
Not quite. Once an Aspect is applied or discovered, the person who applied/discovered it may tag it for free or pass the tag along to someone else. If the Aspect is fragile, it goes away after the tag. If it's sticky, it hangs around, but further uses of it are invokes, not tags. You can only tag an Aspect once, regardless of how long it lasts.

Okay, now I get it.  I thought that Invoke just meant your own Aspects, while Tag meant basically invoking Aspects that belonged (however they got them) to others, or the scene.  So just to clarify, Tagging is free, but only if you applied or discovered the Aspect, or if you pass the tag to another, and only once, while Invoking always costs Fate, and can be used while you have Fate and the Aspect is present?

Sorry, still new to the Fate system.

I thought that once an Aspect is applied, only the person who applied it through a maneuver could Tag it for free, but if it is sticky, anyone can then Tag it by spending a fate point so long as it persists?
