Ahh, yes, I see.  I guess it just seemed odd that no one else had Potion Slots...kind of weird, eh?

I think the sample character sheet for Harry had potion slots.

Oddly he's listed as having potion slots though, when they should be enchanted item slots.

The books do make a distinction between potion and enchanted item slots - can't provide the reference right now. For the purpose of building items/potions they are equivalent; but for enchanted items you have to allocate those slots at the beginning of the session to use them, while potion slots can be allocated in session.

Essentially, you can pull an appropriate potion out of your hat when ever you want but you can't do the same with an enchanted leather duster.

Your bonuses to Thaumaturgy don't seem to add up. It looks like you have a +1 and 2 +2's.

That stumped me too. I think this...
[-3] Thaumaturgy - Conjuration +1, 4 potion slots

is shorthand for...

[-3] Thaumaturgy - Conjuration (+1 Complexity, +1 Control), 4 potion slots

But I could be wrong.

I'd change the description a bit though. 'Scimitar' is a generic term, and I'd go with something more...

In this particular case, I was being specific, not generic.  So you'll have to take that up with Marvel Comics. :)

I would say the +1 would Not stack as it doesnt say anything about it stacking.

Hmmm, I had not considered this as a stacking issue, good point.

I dont really see why the character would have it twice (paying for it twice seems kinda lame) so I dont really think this situation would ever arise, but if it somehow did, i would say Yes they would stack.

For the character in question it isn't an issue and, as you point out, I don't think the situation would actually come up; but while I was thinking about the whole thing I realized that, technically, it was a possibility so I thought I would through the question out there.

I am thinking of using this item of power:

Item of Power [+2]: The Golden Scimitar
Marked By Power [-1] (Allah)
Holy Touch [-1]
Bless This House [-1]

To use this item the character has to already have a High Concept that mentions Allah (for Marked By Power) and Righteousness (for Holy Touch).

So, I have some questions:

Could the character uses the sword's Bless This House to increase the strength of a threshold and then leave the sword behind and have the effect persist? Obviously the character is choosing to make use of the sword in this way so they wouldn't get a compel on the sword's aspect because they have been denied its use.

If the character also has Bless This House would the two powers stack like they would if they were on separate characters?

Holy Touch lists skills affected as "Many", but it only mentions the effect for the Fists skill. Would the sword do +1 stress when used with the Weapons skill? If so, would you also get the +1 stress when using Fists while the sword is sheathed?

Would Holy Touch's compel effect work when touching a creature with your hand or would you have to touch it with the sword?

And finally, I find this bit really vague, "This could qualify your touch as satisfying a Catch for the Toughness powers of some creatures." How are other people interpreting this? Does it satisfy all "Holly Stuff" type catches?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Doesn't an as-printed Conviction stunt already do something similar for social as well?

Apparently, I am blind. Now that I know what I am looking for there is Person of Conviction, Iron-Willed Disbelief, and Unfeeling Crab-Creature.

It's basically just moving a single trapping from one to the other, I don't really see a problem.

No, I get that. It is definitely a valid stunt. I had just never considered moving a trapping that affects a stress track before.

It's just that endurance doesn't have a lot of active uses. You could leave endurance, and presence for that matter, unrated then take stunts to move the Fortitude trappings to you apex skill. That gives you maxed out stress tracks and extra consequences and it frees up two skill slots at Great or higher.

While we are taking things to extremes, you could also throw in the Hunger stress track too. But since hunger comes from a power it may not be within the scope of a mortal stunt to mess with it.

You may use your conviction to draw up power for all spellcasting as though it were conviction.

I think you meant, "You may use your [endurance] to draw up power for all spellcasting as though it were conviction."

I can't believe that I never noticed this before.

Quote from: Your Story, p.375
Iron-Willed Disbelief (Discipline): Rooted
in her firm disbelief of the supernatural,
Janet’s mental stress track is determined
by her Discipline skill.

So...

Mind Over Matter
Through rigorous mental training, you strong personal belief determines your physical reality. Your physical stress track is determined by your Conviction skill.

Superb conviction and a -1 refresh mortal stunt gives you two maxed out stress tracks and two extra ( 1 physical and 1 mental) minor consequences.

Now, that just seems wrong to me!

Well, going with the notion that a water spell could make one wet, how would that be effect spell casters?  Would there be an increase in required spell power?  An increase in control difficulty?  A compel to eliminate casting altogether?  That treads in dangerous waters (man, pun-damage is fun!) when it comes to the application of anti-caster magic, does it not?

Read the original post. MWKilduff wanted to throw a combination of evocations. First, a water blast attack. Then a lightning attack that took advantage of the fact that the target was drenched from the first attack. Since the first evocation was an attack and not a manoeuvre there is no free tag on a drenched aspect; but that target is drenched so he might be able to spend a fate point to invoke the drenched aspect.

This is more or less what I was trying to say. Attacks don't leave Aspects behind (well, not except for Consequences, anyway)...that's what Maneuvers are for. The few exceptions are very specific and somewhat expensive.

In this specific case I have to disagree with you. After being hit by a blast of water the target is obviously wet. There is an "wet" aspect there. What you don't get is a free tag on that aspect unless you performed a manoeuvre to place it there. You have to spend a fate point to invoke it.

Another option would be to tie the spell duration to consequences. When you recover from the consequences that you sacrificed then the spell ends.
